Sorry missed that bit when I made my first post in this thread - so you are probably fine eating only 2 tablespoons of flax
    . And TOM doesn't help

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Day 8, no weight loss, put on 1kg, miserable

here are the ingredients of the vitamins:

Holland & Barrett - Effervescent Vitamin C Tablets high strength 1000mg
        citric acid
        sodium hydrogen carbonate
        vitamin c (as Ascorbic Acid)
        Inulin
        calcium carbonate
        sweetners (sorbitol, saccharin, aspartame)
        Flavourings

        is it safe?
Since your vitamin C tablets have sweeteners, you would need to count them towards your daily sweeteners, which are limited to 3 servings per day.

The ingredients are "okay", but I wouldn't take this stuff. I'd eat more nutritious veggies instead and take an iron-free multivitamin. On Atkins, my vitamin C intake has always been much higher than the RDA... like, at least 3-4 times more, excluding the amount I get from the multivitamin.

I cant live without those bars!
You did live without Atkins bars pre-Atkins, right? I suppose there was a time in your life when you were not eating them, so you can certainly live without them.

What you think you can't live without is probably sweets, not the bars per se. I believe many of us thought just the same when we started Atkins, but if you go without sweeteners for a few weeks, your "need" for sweets will likely subside... and things like red peppers or pumpkin might taste sweet enough to satisfy your desire for something sweet.

As for bars, they were intended as emergency items. Between a slice of Black Forest cake and an Atkins bar, the bar is definitely the better choice. But real food is the best. And as Amy pointed out, some people are stalled by bars. On the "old" Atkins website (back in 2003) it was written in the FAQs:

"Could eating Advantage bars be impeding my weight loss?

This varies by individual. If you have reached a plateau and are not losing weight, try omitting the bars until weight loss resumes."

You are not stalled at 8 days with no weight loss since a stall is defined as four consecutive weeks with no loss of weight or inches, but you might not want to wait for 4 weeks to see if bars stall you.

the tofu is very plain, I flavour it myself and according to my low carb recipe book its practically carbless!
Different kinds of tofu have different carb counts, so do not assume that the one you have is "practically carbless". If the carbs per serving are zero on the label, they could actually be 0.49. Rounding is usually applied to all the numbers reported on American nutritional labels.

Are you using FitDay? To me, that menu you posted looks low in several nutrients (difficult to say without amounts though). FitDay will tell you if it really is. Certain nutrient deficiencies can interfere with weight loss.

Georgiana Thank you for your msg and i love that Michael Jordan quote, very inspirational.

I have taken what you have all advised me into account and have cut out the bars, I am already getting headaches so I think the withdrawal is kicking in, also I put vanilla in my pancake recipe the other date and it wasnt essence it was more of a paste which could also affect weightloss.

Im no longer in Ketosis, I hope tomorrow I will be again.. shall I start today as Day 1 induction and disregard the whole of the last 8 days or shall I just continue as Day 9?

Thanks all for your help and for keeping me on track!! Im signing up to Fit Day today

              Do you know the ingredients?

              Im no longer in Ketosis
If you're basing this on the color of the sticks, then don't worry about it. You can be in ketosis without changing the color. Ketostix only measure the concentration of excess acetoacetate (one of the ketones made by the body) excreted in urine, but they do not measure the ketones you have in the blood. It's the concentration of ketones in the blood that is actually telling you whether or not you are in ketosis and using fat as your primary source of fuel.

shall I start today as Day 1 induction and disregard the whole of the last 8 days or shall I just continue as Day 9
              Just continue.

And since you have little weight to lose, moving to OWL right after Induction and adding 5 net carbs of vegetables would be the best approach.

The last 5-10 lbs are supposed to be lost in Pre-Maintenance.

I agree, move onto OWL - Also remember that TOM can add several lbs of water weight. I just had this battle with myself as well. My TOM came and went and still a couple of lbs have remained...don't get discouraged but definitely try adding more veggies and go to 25grms of carbs I think you're going to pick right back up. Also, did you go a certain exercise program before that you're not doing now or can't do now? Are you more sedentary now? That could explain some difference too....

Re: Day 8, no weight loss, put on 1kg, miserable

Ok here is my update, first of all thank u all for your advise and most things you've said were right!

*day 10: no weight change only headaches which could mean a sign of withdrawal.*

I have been re-reading the atkins book "new diet revolution" (from the beginning!) and have discovered the following which possibly answers ALL My no sign of weightloss problems:

-I've been having strawberries now and again which is forbidden thru induction! Even one!

                  - I have been eating wet cheese like fresh mozarella which is also forbidden thru induction!

                  - I startered induction the week I was due for TOM! Big mistake!

                  - when I had the flu I was taking 8 flu tablets a day for three days which according to the atkins book is very likely to affect weightloss!!!

So, Im starting again, this time with exercise for the first time as I have recovered. Let's see if this works..... (To be continued)...

glad you read your book and got things sorted out.

don't forget to take your measurements too so you can see the inches of body fat being shed by your hard work with your correct eating and your exericse even when the scales don't validate that hard work.

Skip the bars and shakes and you might actually start losing weight... they are not included on the induction list of foods for a reason...

I blame TOM if you've been following the WOE carefully.
Your vitamins also have sweetners, don't forget they count as carbs and they can stall weightloss for some.
