    Induction Phase

I just started the Induction Phase on Ash Wednesday and as of today I have lost a total of 9 lbs. I am starting to get a little constipated and was wondering if it would be okay to take some MiraLax. I was also looking for some good meal suggestions for the Induction Phase. I am getting tired of eating the same old thing. My goal is to keep my carb intake under 10.

    Why under 10?
It's most likely not going to make you lose weight faster eating not enough food. Trust me, I thought the SAME thing when I started and it does the exact opposite. If you starve your body of what it needs, you will stop losing weight.

Also you need 3 cups of vegetables/day. It's pretty hard to get in 3 cups of veggies in under 10 carbs.

      Re: Induction Phase

Dr. Atkins made the carb count 20 per day because only in extremely rare cases do people not get the full benefit of the program starting at that low of a number. Have you read the DANDR book? Congrats on the 9 pounds, that's great! Just know that after induction you start adding in carbs, and will have to continue adding until you plateau to find your ideal number per day. Starting at 10 instead of 20 carbs will add about 2 weeks to that phase.

        Hi,

Are you eating the proper amount of veggies, if not, that could be one reason you are constipated. What are you using as a source of info for your eating plan.

Keeping under 10 is not how to do Induction.

I eat Induction friendly chicken, beef, fish, pork, and just look for good recipe to prepare them with....also lasagna, taco bake, cheesecake, veggie casseroles, quiche, tons of different types of vegetables, pizza, nacho doritos... What are you eating now that you are tired of?

Linda's website has meal suggestions, but that really is a personal thing, what do you like to eat??? Pick out your favorite foods and then look for recipes. Re-Read the inductions acceptable food list, and pick from there.

That's not the goal of Atkins though.

That could explain why you're constipated!

Rather than teach your body to rely on chemicals, why not do Atkins as written ... with the vegetables!
