    Yep. Atkins is about the vegetables. No vegetables means, quite simply, that you're not doing Atkins.

          No reason to curse.

          You haven't read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002), have you, MissShawna?

          If you're going to do Atkins, you're going to have to educate yourself on what's involved.

          Being clueless as to what Atkins is or how to do it isn't a very good beginning!

          Depends on what vegetables you're eating! Are they on the Acceptable Foods for Induction List?

          Have you read the stickies in the Induction forum?

          I think you've started "Atkins" without knowing the first thing about what it is.

          Step #1 ... buy a copy of the book.

            That's the total, not the carbs from vegetables. You should be counting the carbs in cheese, eggs, spices, mayo, ranch, etc. in your daily tally as well.

            More than half of the net carbs (total carbs minus dietary fiber) you consume should come from vegetables.

              MissShawna - where are you getting your information about what the way of eating is - word of mouth, friend, internet? I can tell you from personal experience you will never be successful taking that route. As others have said, grab a copy of the book. It will explain the steps as well as the science behind the diet.

              Until you get the book, check out the stickies others have posted. Those should get you started until you can get your hands on a copy of the book. You really don't want someone telling you how to do the way of eating. You need to learn it yourself so that you can make informed decisions with each meal. Think about it, no one on this board will be with you in the market, at your stove or with you in a restaurant.

                Hi Shawna

                I noticed this is your first thread here so wanted to welcome to our ADBB family

                The others have given you lots of input about your food choices already so I am sure that once you have time to read the links posted and add some of those yummy induction-legal vegetables you will soon be on the right path towards becoming a healthier smaller you

                Try to choose more nutrient rich (higher carb) ones than mainly lettuce if you can from the salad vegetable list.

                My personal favourite is sweet red peppers which according to the USDA database have about 6 net carbs per cup, chopped, raw but according to the nutrition label on the ones I buy (those long pointy ones) have even more net carbs, so help me get 'most' of my net carbs from my vegetables on induction.
                I like them either raw, sprinkled with a bit of sea salt to bring out the flavour as most of my salad, or sautééd in butter as a hot vegetable or sauce with meats.

                We all need a bit of help to get us properly started and I am sure you will do OK once you get the hang of this

                  Elizellen, that's one of my favorites too. It's almost like eating candy. Yummy with a nice crunch!
