I just wanted to say congrats for the tiny step you took today in staying away from the ice cream. No choosing the diet drink wasn't the best option but it was still proof of your growing will power. I am by no means an expert on Atkins(shoot I can't even beat my sugar addiciton yet) but I think you at the very least took a step forward. I agree with all that has been said here as far as totally beating the craving instead of replacing it but I also don't think anyone has given you credit for saying no!! I am right where you are and I know how even the tiniest step forward has to be rewarded. Now you know that you can say No to ice cream and next time you can say No to the diet soda too!! Good luck with you cravings and celebrate even the tiniest step forward.

Just wanted to send some positive vibes your way!!!

I do agree with Irish. I feel that you (I) should stay away from all sweets, even the fake ones. Only because I am sooooo afraid it will trip a binge and ruin all of my heard work. So just keep at it, youll be able to work through those cravings, and soon you wont cheat at all (hopfully). Bye Now.

Laurenad think of yourself as a carb sweets addict going through withdrawals just like a drug addict you are going to have cravings and want that stuff so bad but you got to hang on if you want to be clean. You wouldn't substitue heroin for coke when you were withdrawing would you to get clean?

In a few days they will subsid and your ketosis will be working storngly and you will have control of this aspect of your life as long as you follow the rules and eat the foods in your DANDR> you have got a new copy by now to replace that one you left at home.

        Happy low carbing.

I just tell myself. I am an adult, I am not going to eat that illegal food. I may not be able to control many things in this world. But..... I CAN control what I put in my mouth.

Now I didn't get to this point until I had white nuckled the cravings. After a few days, I got all that excessive glucose out of my system, I was in control!
I refused to let food control me any more. This is my life and I took it back from carbohydrates, well the illegal ones.

I am such a carbo-holic! If I can do this anyone that really wants to succeed can do this!!! But you have to realllly want it.

The best to you. Lauren! I know you can do this!!!

Lauren, I would like to know what you have learnt from all of the advice you have been given in this thread.

I feel that if you can feed back in writing what you have learnt, it will help you stay focussed?

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

                    Exactly right.

And then if you do a squeaky clean 2 weeks, you should be rid of your sweet cravings completely.

good for you now go out and apply it to your Atkins no crystal lite drinks or bottled fruit with slpenda in it. no candy or bars no clouds easy on the packets of Splenda too. Dr Atkins knew we'd have trouble cutting doen so he tells us we have a limit of only 3 total servings a day of sweetend stuff and those servings are based on the manufacturers serving size not ours like that DC is per cup or 8 fl ounces not per bottle or can.

I couldn't do any Splenda sweetened stuff on my Atkins cause I'm a carboholic and a cephalic responder and would be climbing the walls wanting sweets after having some Splenda sweetened soda or even the mock danish with it.
