  • Are all pepperoni created the same?

    Hi All,

    I am on my 6th day of induction. I lost 2lbs the first day, but have not weighed in since. My legs ache like the dickens though.

    I had some Hormel Pepperoni and 1oz cheese of breafast. This sort of breakfast is in line of how I would normally eat. I can't do the fried eggs every morning.

    I know processed meat can be a no-no on inductions but the package did not list any sugars or nitrates. No carbs are listed, but have 13g fat per serving.

    Please advise. I am just trying to shake it up a little bit, since I am planning to do an extended-Induction Phase.

    What were the ingredients in the pepperoni, exactly?

    Sugar has many names ... I bet "dextrose" is there.

    Pepperoni is very very processed, and has a lot of sodium, along with the sugar. I wouldn't consider this a good choice for a daily food ... nor is it "healthy" for breakfast.

    Who said you had to have fried eggs every morning?

    Eggs can me made any number of ways. There's leftover dinner, too.

      Ok. Just looked on the package, dextrose is an ingredient. I can't have it? Bummer. I understand your comment about pepperoni not being a good breafast, hence the reason why I am over weight and on a diet again.

      I will find more ideas for breakfast. Thanks for the help

        You "can" have anything you want.

        The decision of whether it's a good, healthy food for you ... that's a different decision.

          Have you looked at the eggnog shake thread?
          Scrambled eggs with items in it is one of my favourite things to do. There are like a million ways to flavour up and eat scrambled eggs. My all time favourite is with cheddar cheese.
          You should try for a more substantial and less salty breakfast.
          Pepperoni is almost always a no no. I can find some good local products where they cure without sugar that I by sometimes. But it is salty and should be used somewhat sparingly.
