  • Bacon and Sausage

I have looked at the ingredients on both bacon and sausage on all the labels in the store. Each one had nitrates listed in the ingredients. What bran meats are you guys buying?

    Re: Bacon and Sausage

I can't find nitrate free here, I can't find sugar free either. My biggest problem now is bacon tastes way too salty. Tried the lower sodium but didn't like the taste of the meat at all. I switched back to turkey bacon.

I wouldn't worry much about nitrates... but I also wouldn't eat processed meats daily.

          Re: Bacon and Sausage

If you have a Trader Joes they have nitrate free and also very often family butcher shops sell it.
Sausage can also be full of fillers, but I just go for the normal bacon, with nitrates and don't worry about it to much

You can find fairly healthy bacon and sausage at a "health Food" store. The store that sells mostly organic stuff. Even nitrate-free hot dogs!

I just eat normal bacon/sausage/hot dogs etc... I figure being fat is worse than consuming nitrates...

I never had a problem with bacon, all that is ee is zero carb has it should be, its never slowed me down in the past. I wouldnt worry about it, but if your weight stalls, look at everything closely and if it points to bacon, then maybe your body dont like nitrates.
