Is this allowable under the induction phase? I am on day 4 and I find myself just craving something fruity flavored and I thought SF Jello could do it.

Re: Sugar Free Jello?
To clarify that... it's heavy cream that you whip yourself, not stuff like SF Cool Whip.low carb whip cream
Actually he doesn't have Jell-O in DANDR 2002. He has "gelatin dessert". There's a difference between the two.he actually has sugar free jello
Also, just because it's allowed on Induction, it does not mean it's a good choice, especially for someone who deals with cravings."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Sugar Free Jello?
NDKodie, I would suggest you do as Atkinsgal advised you and stay away from SF Jello.
Many say that a dill pickle (make sure there's no sugar in the ingredients) helps when they experience cravings.
Or you could have some fat and protein... like a boiled egg, for example.
Or a salad with olive oil and vinegar.
Or instead of eating, just do something else. Go for a walk, read a book..."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Sugar Free Jello?
Jello-Brand gelatin uses aspartame as the sweetener in its sugar free variety. Aspartame is the artificial sweetener Dr. Atkins said to avoid during his diet.
There are recipes for making your own gelatin dessert (using a legal sugar substitute): do a search of the Dessert Forum to find one.
And there are splenda sweetened pre-made gelatin cups available, like Jolly Rancher and I think the Hunt's brand. But be sure to read the labels of these products as ingredients have changed and because I don't typically buy them so my memory may be rusty about their ingredients.

Dr. Atkins wrote that desserts should be "occasional treats", not everyday items on our menus.Originally posted by AndrewH View PostI personally eat one jello cup a day as a snack (usually have it when I get home from work in the morning)."Get action. By "lady", you mean NDKodie?Originally posted by Amazonka View PostBut the lady who wrote above you does have a good weight loss,,
In any case, one of the purposes of Induction is to break your addiction to "sugary treats". Having Jell-O every night doesn't really help with that, does it? Atkins is about creating healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime; it's not just a tool to lose weight."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Sugar Free Jello?
Actually he doesn't mention 'jello'at all (probably because it contained one of the non-recommended sweeteners) but suggests making your own version using unsweetened gelatin powder or leaf gelatin (knox make one variety in USA) and a 'legal' sweetener and top it with whipped cream you have made by whipping cream yourself.Originally posted by kcerica View PostIn the book he actually has sugar free jello with low carb whip cream on a sample menu list for induction.
And if you look at the induction menus for a week, it is only on a few days - not every day.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Sugar Free Jello?
All in all, maybe every so often is ok, but if it stalls your weight loss then you should drop it...personally when i DESPERATLY want something, i sip a cup or coffee, using my splenda serving for the dayLast edited by Mbudlite89; March 6, 2010, 10:47 PM.
