  • Stay in induction or no?

Hey everyone, I read through a lot of the forums and still have a big question that I need all of your alls help with. I am right at day 14 of induction, and ended up gaining 4 pounds the first week, which I also had my "woman time" so i think that might be why, and then right back to the same weight as 14 days ago so I have dropped 4 pounds technically, but only since this week. I was wondering if i should stay in induction or go into OWL because i feel as if i may need another week due to my first week being somewhat taken off track by my "woman time." Also a month before I started the induction phase i ate very low calorie and fat and exercised a lot, so i really don't think i have a great deal of water weight to lose, and maybe that's why I haven't dropped a lot more weight like others do in the induction. I am still in ketosis, and eating only 20 grams or less and I'm hesitant to move on and gain weight instead of just staying in induction and maybe it will start dropping a little faster. I guess I am just getting discouraged and need everyone's opinion. Let me know please.

So you gained 4lbs of water then lost it, but no other weight loss with induction? Can you post what you've been eating?

You should be eating 20 NET carbs ... less of either carbs or calories is generally counterproductive with Atkins.

Re: Stay in induction or no?

        Poobear,
My menu consists of typically the following...
        Breakfast: 3 eggs
        Lunch: 3 burgers with cheese
Dinner: Some sort of steak, hamburger, or meat and greenbeans
I honestly haven't really veared too far from this regime, could that be what I am doing wrong? Also I have always drank enough water, it's actually the only beverage I usually have, i haven't drank soda in over a year. I hope that explains something that I am missing, thanks for your help and I am looking forward to hearing what you think!
        Thanks Again

<<could that be what I am doing wrong?>>

Yes. You have no where near enough vegetables.

Did you figure out how many net carbs you're eating?

All I see are eggs (1.17), the cheese, and the greenbeans.

Do you know how many ounces of water you're drinking?

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

Re: Stay in induction or no?

I eat generally between 15 to 20 grams of carbs a day, I have been keeping track of it on fitday.com, which has really helped because I have staying within the 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs. I typically drink 8-10 16 ounce bottles of water daily, if not more, but never less. I have read the book but I just don't seem to get it, I even got low carb dieting for dummies trying to clarify it, but i guess I just feel discouraged because I seem to be having different results, and I know that everyone has different results but I guess I just have questions that I can't find in the book. What would you suggest i do? Also should i stay in the induction phase or go to OWL, what are the top determinations that tell me to go ahead into OWL?

Can you post a link to your Fitday?

To make your Fitday public, log in, go to the Profile tab, click on the blue Public Settings Page at the bottom, click on the "Make My Journal Public" button. Then you'll get a link at the top:

              Post that here.

              >>What would you suggest i do? A>>

Let me look at your Fitday first.

              >>8-10 16 ounce bottles of water daily,>>

Are you buying that many bottles?

                  Elizabeth ...

Why not save some $$ and buy a water bottle that you can refill?

                  That link doesn't work.

Did you follow the directions I posted? The journal has to have your journal name in it.

Re: Stay in induction or no?

                          Looking at today questions:

Did you really have powdered eggs?

                          Where's the vegetables?

Get rid of the Atkins bar ... nothing but trouble for you right now.

What's a "serving" of cheese? How many ounces?

                          Yesterday:

Did you measure your steak after you cooked it?

Did you measure your green beans after you cooked them?

The limit of sour cream is 1 ounce ... you had 8 times that.

Bottom line, MOST of your net carbs are NOT coming from vegetables. You should be having at least 3 cups of vegetables ... you have one.

                          On the 25th,

Same as above. Get rid of the Atkins shake.

On the whole ... you need some variety to your eating.

I'm a creature of habit, too ... but I would be crazy by now eating what you're eating day after day after day.

The powdered eggs must have been a mistake, I don't even know what a powdered eggs is. It would have been regular eggs, and I will eliminate the atkins stuff and put some more veggies in there because I would love to add some variety. I will start getting out some recipes from the book and the other books, thanks for your help, Thank you again for your advice, I trully appreciate your time and answering all my crazy questions.

What you're looking for in Fitday is "eggs, whole, raw".

Can you answer the rest of the questions?

I've got to go to bed ... so I'll get back to you tomorrow!
