My friend is new on Atkins, she is heavier than I am and has lost 3 pounds in less than a week. She just recently told me that she had a BIG slip, and is worried that she will gain back the weight she has lost. Is that possible? can someone gain weight for having a BIG slip, or will they just stall? I think she said that she felt she was in ketosis.

Re: Gain weight?
Yes - that is possible. Mostly because if she carb loads the cells will hang on to water and the scale will show a big number. I can put on 5lbs like that. But it is not fat so being strict and continue the diet will rectify it again.
However cheating after only 3 days may be a sign of serious lack of will power. See if you can find a way to encourage her to be strong.

Re: Gain weight?
As Liv said, even if she experiences a weightgain from the 'slip' but does not give up on her new way of eating by continuing to eat off-plan she will probably find that extra 'water weight' will go soon and she will continue to lose weight.
She will however need to look at the reasons why she decided to eat non-induction foods so early in her Atkins journey and plan a strategy for not repeating the 'slip'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
