Unless those mushrooms are on steroids, you are undereating vegetables.

Instead of using the scrambled eggs entry in FitDay, use "eggs, whole, raw". Enter separately the fat you used to cook them.

Measure vegetables raw and enter them raw in FitDay. It's more accurate that way as some vegetables reduce their volume when cooked.

      <<it says 64% fat 32% protein and 5% carbs!!!<<

      This really isn't the "goal".

It can be a guideline ...

32% protein is actually a bit high.

20-25% is more likely on target.

What is the goal? I figured that 5% was pretty decent.

Re: Does this menu look good?

5% is decent but percentages are relative things. So I can eat one egg and have a perfect carb percentage but that does not mean that I have eaten well that day. I think around 30 percent is good for protein.

You are aiming for 3 cups of veggies and you want the majority of your netcarbs to come from vegetables. I thought your menu looked pretty good

Re: Does this menu look good?

You should count carbs for tea and for the crystal light. Make sure that you get at least 64 oz of clean water. This is very helpful for weightloss and for induction.

I am not a fan of drinking artificial sugars - just does not make that much sense to me so try to keep it under control to get your sweet tooth under control It is really all about some tricks to be able to control things and work with moderation in the future. Atkins thought aspartame was a sweetener to avoid as he felt many of his patients stalled with it. I always try to do induction without sweetener if I can

Good job on the alchohol issue. Once you start to lose weight and get some bloodsugar issues under control you can experiement and include some again. But induction it is good to work on following the rules. It is like setting the bar for what you are capable of. So probably good to find an other way to relax.

Re: Does this menu look good?

Hi Jules. How much water? And when you mention the tea and crystal light are you counting that as your water?

The minimum amount of water you should be drinking is 64 ounces. Most recommend half your body weight in ounces. So someone weighing 200 lbs would aim for 100 ounces.

Any other beverages should be only after you've gotten your pure water in.

                Good luck.

As Liv pointed out, it depends a lot on how much you are eating. If you consume 2500 calories, for example, and 5 grams of dietary fiber, then you don't want your carbs to be at 5% during Induction, because that would mean you had about 26 net carbs.

You should count net carbs, not percentages. I know people who have been at goal for years and never paid attention to the macronutrient ratios in their diet... they just counted net carbs.

And whether you have 5% or 10% carbs, 20% or 35% protein, 60% or 70% fat is not really important if that means you are undereating or overeating calories, net carbs or protein.

Excess protein can interfere with weight loss because part of it is converted to glucose. Something like 1-1.5 grams of protein per kg of body weight should be enough to prevent lean body mass loss. However, at this point in your diet, I believe it's more important to focus on eating your vegetables together with protein and healthy fats (no trans fats), and also on getting proper nutrition. If you need to troubleshoot, then percentages might be something you need to look at. But I don't think now is the time to do that.

Talking about nutrition, take a look at your vitamins and minerals in FitDay, to see where you're at. If you're low, I would suggest you make more nutritious food choices. Certain nutrient deficiencies can slow down your metabolism.

                  1 crystal light
I'd ditch this. It's full of chemicals and is nutritionally null.

Even if made with Splenda, it's still junk if you read the ingredients.
