    He all,

I am having scallops with my salad greens for lunch. The package states that there are 7 carbs per package (4 oz); however, Fitday.com states 4 oz of cooked scallops as 11.9 carbs. Which one should I go with when tallying my carbs? Which one would you use?

The package is counting "raw", you can't compare "cooked" and "raw", since 4 ounces raw scallops is probably not 4 ounces cooked ... since they shrink.

You need to find out what Fitday has for 4 ounces raw scallops.

The USDA has 3 ounces of scallops (85 grams) at 2.01 net carbs.

What are the ingredients on your package?

FitDay's version of cooked scallops has egg, milk, bread crumbs and salt. It's always better to enter the raw version and any ingredients you use in cooking.

The problem with going with the label is that fractions of carbs are missing - the number will be rounded up if .5 gram or greater or down if less than .5. I think it is safest to find a FitDay entry that does not add anything (except possibly salt) and use that. If that is not available, use the label.

One place where you can really get caught is when the manufacturer manipulates the serving size so that they can list 0 carbs on the label.

The label can be wrong, though.

Cheese, whipping cream are prime examples.

You're doing yourself a disservice by doing what you're doing.

Re: Nutrition Facts: The package or Fitday.com

With the way manufacturers in USA are allowed to claim 'zero' fro any thing that is under 0.5 it is tricky to use the label info if there are ingredients that do have carbs in them. Maybe count 0.5 carbs per serving ?

We are lucky outside USA as most of our labels list nutrition info per 100 grams or 100 mls, so we can work out a more accurate count per serving.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
