  • Shopping for Induction Phase

    Hello All!
I am new to the forum and Atkins for that matter. I have chosen to commit to this and see if I can do it. I have read alot about the phases and rules etc. I am curious to see if anyone has any personal pointers/advise/tips. I haven't seen alot of talk about physical exercise. I am aware that you are supposed to work out while doing Atkins. Is there any thing in specific though? Also, I am heading to the store tonight for some things. Is there a list of staples that anyone can provide that helped them alot during the 1st week or two? I am really afraid on not taking in enough calories, as I normally don't eat enough to begin with. Please let me know

    Thanks so much!

    Re: Shopping for Induction Phase

welcome to ADBB and to atkins.
there is a free printable list of the legal induction foods in the stickies lostandfound created you can take to the store with you.
Buy fresh or frozen veggies on the list, raw meats and eggs, some cheese you like that is aged, some cream and sour cream butter and a nontransfat salad dressing you enjoy that has less them 2 grams of carbs for a serving and you should be good to go.

when you get home prep the veggies if you got fresh ones so they are ready to go when you are hungry and open the frige. You can portion control your cheese if you buy a 8 ounce block and then cut the whole package in half and then each half in half and inhalf horizontally after that. you should have 8 pieces and each one about 1 ounce then you have 4 for each days serving and don't have to worry about is your cut an ounce or not.

you can do the same with cream cheese if you like it and then 4 cubes total in any combination you want is a days worth 1 of cream cheese and 3 of the aged cheese or 3 of the cream cheese and one of the aged cheese.

Be sure you measure your veggies and know what 3 cups looks like as it may seem like a lot of lettuce on day one but by day 9 you will be over estimating your servings if you don't measure.

I walked as my aerobic exercise. You can do anything you like some folk buy videos, other join a gym and some just freelance like putting on some music and dancing for 30 min while they clean the house. @2Big4MySize Thank you soo much! I have a question about measuring the veggies....When I measure 1 cup of lettuce...is it loosely packed (just scoop it out, like a light handfull?), or am I packing the measuring cup?

Dr Atkins in DANDR says loosely packed so don't shredd it to get even more in the cup LOL

Does that include the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

@ 2big4mysize LOL, thanks so much, I just printed the list. @Georgiana - Thank you, I found it!

@atkinsgal08 No, I haven't read it yet. Getting it this weekend. I have only read from the atkins besite, this foruma and medical digests. I was on the hCG protocol and now switching over to Atkins, seems to be a better idea with me starting ms fitness training.
