I have not yet started Atkins. I am starting tomorrow. I have been getting into it and reading up and making sure that I am well prepared and ready. I have just turned to the induction menu-week 1 plan and it looks like hardly anything! I thought the idea was that we could actually eat on this diet! I'm starting to wonder if it is right for me now :-( Has anybody followed Dr Atkins reccommended menu for week 1 induction? He says to repeat it for the second week. How did it work for u? It also sais in a previous chapter that you can eat certain meats and fish lliberally but this menu plan doesnt seem to take that into account!

Re: Confused on food!
Well done for planning in advance!
I didn't use the menus in DANDR but made up my own according to what I had in the kitchen and what I like to eat. Also quantities were according to how hungry I was.
As long as you choose foods from the allowed list, watch the quantities of the few foods that have limits and eat till no longer hungry rather than because you have put it on the plate then you won't go far wrong.
You could list your planned meals here in our 'Review my Menu' forum and see if anyone can spot any possible problems if you are unsure.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Confused on food!
if you look in DANDR chapter 11 the sample induction menu had 9 ounces of salmon with veggies for dinner, 8 ounces of steak with veggies and a 3 egg omlette with avacado cheese and tomato for breakfast. that is a lot of food.
If you are a big person then you will naturally eat more since we are supposed to feed out hunger using those healthy fats, proteins, and legal veggies up to the 3 cup limit each day.
BUT Atkins is not a magic pigout at the all you can eat steak/seafood/whole hog/naked chickenwings bars for every meal and shed body fat.
We feed our hunger and stop. we eat when we are hungry even if we just ate an hour ago. We listen to our bodies and when hungry eat and when not hungry we need an alarm clock set to 6 hrs to remind us to eat a small snack of some of our protein fats and veggies.by the book atkinseer
