  • Newbie to all this.

Hi everyone, well I always knew I was big, but I weighed myself last Wednesday and was 253lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost died. I thought I was about 20 lbs lighter than this. Well I decided to give Atkins a crack and after 5 days I am down to 243 , minus 10lbs
The first 2 days were an absolute nightmare as I drank loads of Diet Coke and Coffee, ate crisps and bread and my headaches were unbelievable. I feel sorry for my wife and kids LOL
My reason for writing this is to tell all the people also just starting out that after the headaches are gone the cravings go, well for me anyway I have a bottle of diet coke in the cupboard and I aint even wanted to go near it.
So my tips from a short start is just hang in there and work through the pain, it gets easier.
    Thanks for reading people

    What a great start, Gordon!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

          Re: Newbie to all this.

I'm just starting out and the headaches are a killer. In the past, it's why I've never lasted on Atkins but my motivation is a little stronger this time around. Gordon, have you also felt shaky, sweaty, or nauseous during phase 1?

Taking an OTC painkiller would be perfectly fine.

              Thanks for the feedbak guys.
@ Nothankyou, I never felt any of those symptoms, just the really blinding headaches. But I was determined to get through them and give it my best and thats the best advice I can give to anyone. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Now I dont feel as hungry, I get up in the morning and I am not going for breakfast first, I get the kids ready and off to school, do some stuff around the house and then have my small breakfast. I cant eat as much now too.
Last night my wife made a roast chicken with the veg and roast potatoes, I got a breast with none of the other stuff and only ate half. You get to the point where you know your body and can feel it full. Weird I know buts its true.
              Just stick in there.

I'm anxious to get to that point. I've been taking tylenol first thing in the morning so that has definitely helped.
