  • Should I stay or should I go?

    Ok so today is day 13...I checked the scale and have really only lost about 4lbs in 2 weeks...i have lost inches though.
    Boobs went from 36" to a 34" LOVING it! Lol
    waist from a 32 to a 30 and so on!!!
    I read the book again this evening and it states (according to metabolic resistant chart) that I am borderline low! Hmmmm
    So I guess my question is should I stay or should I go....
    to OWL???

    Loving this new way of eating and have never felt better. But should I stay on induction for another week or two? See what happens?!

    I always vote for OWL.

    Induction is about getting your body ready to do the work of OWL ... losing your weight.

      With only 23 lbs left, moving to OWL would be the best strategy, imo.

        I agree - OWL is easier to do if you still have noticeable weight to lose. Then as you climb the OWL ladder it will be easier to tell if your weightloss is continuing.

        Dr Atkins did say we should be ready to move to the third phase of Atkins when we still have 5-10 pounds to go, so to have climbed the OWL ladder by that time you do need to start soon.

          Why does it say 14lbs?
          Because I lost 10 lbs since july gradually before starting atkins 2 weeks ago.

            That's what I thought. So, if you dieted before starting Atkins, then the degrees of metabolic resistance showed in the charts don't apply to you.

              COngrats on shrinking your body and since youknow that is more important then a scale number go a head and move to OWL/ You are going to be adding 5 more net grams of carbs of those yummy induction veggies to the 3 cups you are already eating so that would be about 24-40 more cals a day depending on the fiber content which shouldn't cause you to regain anything if you think about it.
              But it will give yyou more of the healthy micronutriants that our bodies needs to keep our metabolsim going full spped a head. so weigh in and measure on day 15 and see how good you feel about doing atkins which means moving on to the next phase so you can begin the big food test where you learn what foods agree with your body and help you shed body fat and what foods don't. take good notes

                As you have a borderline low resistance to weightloss then you certainly do not need to hang about on induction for any longer than the first 2 weeks!! Particularly as you were losing weight before starting so probably did not have any 'water weight' to lose

                Onwards and upwards on the OWL ladder!!

                  I can't say it loud enough. GO GO GO

                  OWL is so much better. It opens up your food choices dramatically, although slowly of course. I reached my goal weight four years ago by staying on extended induction. By the time I got there, I had no clue about my CCLL and what foods had an adverse affect on me. It is imperative to go through OWL is you want to keep the weight off.

                  1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
                  what the rungs mean to me:
                  rung 1 - more veggies
                  rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
                  rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                  rung 4 - berries, melon
                  rung 5 - wine -
                  rung 6 - beans, hummus
                  rung 7 - other fruits
                  rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
                  rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                  Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
                  (on to pre-maintenance)

                    I will wait until day 15 and until than I am going to plan ahead and see what happens! Wish me luck ladies

                        move on up the rungs.

                        as soon as i started incorporating more foods the scale started moving again.

                        Atkins start date: January 25, 2010
                        1st goal: 200 - Met January 29, 2010
                        2nd goal: 190 - Met March 26, 2010
                        3rd goal: 180
                        4th goal: 170
