It doesn't matter how much weight you have to lose. Atkins is a good way of eating also for people who have no weight to lose... as will be your case once you reach Maintenance.

Have you read the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

Sorry, but I have to say.... I read the Goal 1 in your siggi and about fell out of my chair! The Atkins WOE (way of eating) is spectacular, even if you do not have much or any weight to lose. A wonderful benefit is that your body will lose size even when it doesn't lose pounds!

I know we can all be impatient once we make the decision and act on it to lose weight or make any major changes in our lives. Just try to remember that you are becoming who you want to be and no matter how long it takes, once you get there.... You will be happy beyond measure.

I just ordered the book today, and thanks for being honest I had a feeling people might think I was just some little brat, especially since I know my struggle might seem vain. Its just that I was an athlete my whole life so people that see me now from my past have this look in their eye like she let herself go, and I hate it. Thanks for the replies.

I turned siggies off so I didn't see you falling out of the chair goal weight ( whew).
Welcome to atkins and to ADBB. We have many folk who are flyweights like you but being over weight is being overweight regardless of if you are a flyweight or a superheavyweight.

Atkins eating is about changing to a healthier food intake so even if you are a goal weight person becoming an atkinseer is a good thing.

so what you doing for the mandatory exercise part of your atkisn?

if you keep increasing the intensity of your seesions it should be. As we get in better condition and lose weight it takes less energy to do the exact same exercise plan so either we eat less to match the less output or we increase the output to keep up with our input.

Let me just say that anyone looking at your weight numbers have to consider your height!

I am in a similar situation. I am 5 feet tall exactly and started low-carb at around 132.. which may be a fine number for someone of a normal height, but on a shorter person that 132 may look like 152! I am now at 125 after 15 days. (Though I'm not counting and I started with OWL) If you look at my sig, you'll see that my goal weight is exactly the same as yours. It's what I weighed in high school and the weight that I think I looked the best.

There is nothing vain about wanting to look and feel your best!

My word of advice to you, because we are short, is to include as much cardio and strength training as much as you can fit it in. It's hard for us to look LEAN with short legs and short torsos, and we need to work just a little harder to build some muscle so as to not look so flabby. The daily goal that I strive for but don't always meet is 3 miles cardio and 30 minutes weights.

No one can predict how your body will do on induction. You may lose a pretty big chunk of that weight goal or you may only lose a pound or two since your goal isnt' that big and you are at a healthy weight. Only time will tell. Stick to it 100% and know even if the weight comes off slow you are getting healthier and will look better.

Also goal weight has a lot to do with your build. I am the same height as you but no way could I do 105lbs. They'd slap me in the hospital for starving myself. But I'm probably built a lot different than you are so my goal is set higher.
