  • Fed Up w/ the Extra

I'm Scott, a twenty-three year old, and I'm just about tired of this extra weight.

I've been on a moderate/low carbohydrate intake diet for the longest. I can tell you this, I have successfully not gained weight, but it stops there--no weight is lost.

    Anyway,

I read Dr. Atkins' nice thick read book after purchasing it from Books-A-Million a few years ago, tried it, and lost about 7 pounds my first week (and I actually cheated a little, which I know hindered me greatly).

I've since done moderate carbs--cut out the use of white or brown sugar all together, avoided all types of bread short of Julian Bakery's, steered clear of candy that wasn't completely sugar/carb free--but I've got to get more serious.

So this is what I'm determined to do:

    1) Keep reading these threads as often as possible/daily if I can, for encouragement.

    2) Prepare my kitchen for Induction (despite that the mere thought of it scares me).

    3) Stick with it AT LEAST for two weeks. I've got to try, and then see if my body responds well to it.

I go to the gym and have a rigorous strength/interval training workout as well as cardio, at least 3 times a week. I'm just a little afraid about the lack of energy.

welcome Back to ADBB and to Atkins.

how low are you eating your low carb plan? since youare not gaining you know what your levle of carbs is for maintaining your weight at your current activity level.

How about you just cut that level in 1/2 and do OWL to see what effect that has on your weight with the new to you exercise plan.
you'd be eatting 3 cups of those yummy induction veggies plus 5 net grams more of them along with the induction cheese limits, and depending on how high 1/2 is you might be adding some fresh dairy nuts/seeds and berries to your menus if your 1/2 is 40 net. if not then you will need to figure would how high you want to climb rung wise in that 2002 DANDR carb ladder chapter 14.

Re: Fet Up w/ the Extra

Thanks for the quick responses. Though in net carbs I haven't gone over 20 yet, I have eaten Induction-forbidden low net carb foods, so I suppose tomorrow morning is when mine officially begins.

Very true Atkinsgal08, I indeed do need to read it again. I remember the description of that table of delicious, just plain scrumptious, that you find out are ALL low carb and healthy at the end of the illustration. The way the book was written made it both educational as well as inspiring. Reading it again is #1 on my list at the restart of my Induction phase.

2big4mysize, what great suggestions! I think that'll help out a lot, especially after my first two weeks. I know I'm going to be really reevaluating my OWL when I get their 2 Saturdays from now.

        Thanks for your help!

Welcome to our ADBB family, Scott
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
