  • Hello! New to board but not Atkins

    Hello! I am on day five of atkins and thought I would introduce myself. I have lost 4.4 pounds so far and had a few questions.

    1. I use fitday to enter my meals...what is the ideal percentage of fat/ protein and carbs? (I have the book but didn't see this)

    2. Does my menu look ok?

    Breakfast- 2 fried eggs, 3-4 bacon strips

    Snack- 1 cup broccoli, 1 tbsp ranch

    Lunch- 2 hamburger patties, 1 slice of cheddar cheese, 1 tbsp mayo, 1 tbsp mustard

    Dinner- Tuna Salad - 13 oz can of tuna, 2 tbsp mayo, 2 cups ice berg lettuce

    Snack- Cheese stick

    I have been drinking around 80 oz of water

    Congrats on 5 days.
    the percentages are not in the book. And they are not cut in stone either. Just ballpark numbers. They are 65 for fat, 30 for protein and 5 for carb.

    Menu is looking pretty good. What kind of calorie number and fat numbers are you getting? Your carbs are probably pretty low if you eat 2 cups of iceberg lettuce. I would mix it up with other veggies too. Better nutrition that way also.
    Remember that most of your carbs should come from veggies (You may be getting more carbs from cheese than from veggies at the moment. Count one carb per oz of cheese and limit cheese to 4 oz)

      Thanks! Yesterday's numbers were:

      calories: 1,359
      fat: 98.7 grams
      carbs: 15.3 grams
      protein: 100.5 grams

      I will add in some cucumbers today to see if that increases my carbs. Thanks again

        While your menu meets the minimum requirements, 2 cups of lettuce isn't very much nutritionally, nor are you getting MOST of your daily net carbs from Induction vegetables.

        You really shouldn't be relying on 2 cups of lettuce ... add some of the other vegetables.

        I think your calories are probably low, too.

            You could have fennel, jicama, peppers... Mix up those veggies!

                I've been eating broccoli, asparagus, Salads with mushroom, onion, grn onion,
                lots of grn beans, spinach etc!
                Your doing awesome...get some more vegs in and you be great!




                HW-162/SW-152/CW-140/GW-130...and than some later if needed!

                First goal met 10lbs down
                now on for the next 10
