  • feel sick and crave carbs?

    day 8 of my induction and I feel sick and crave carbs ridiculous amounts?! is this normal, i thought this went within the first 3-5 days? they were tough but this is crazy.

    also, is it normal for your apetite to completely go? I have a achey tummy but don't find any food particularly appetitizing, and feel a bit sick when I eat? any suggestions?? I'm drinking lots of water!

    Hi there. I have done LC before just new to Atkins. The symptom you are having is called SNATT. Semi Nauseaus All The Time. Your body is purging and this is very normal. It will change. You are beggining to see or will see great results. Are you taking your vitamins and supliments as directed by the book??? You may find that adding L-Glutamean(spelt wrong sorry) also, may help you with your carb and suggar cravings....Good luck and hang on tight...

      It IS normal to find your appetite suppressed by being in ketosis, but not really to be nauseous every time you do eat.

      You might have fallen into the trap of not eating enough fat - the 'SNATT' that Health Nut mentions is one of the symptoms that people following a dangerous lowcalorie/lowcarb craze a couple of years ago were told was good for them. The originator of that diet is in the middle of a lawsuit from people who damaged their health by eating a near starvation diet - which even she had not followed herself but made up!

      Remember that Atkins is a highfat/medium protein/lowcarb way of eating, maybe you can list some recent menus so we can help you troubleshoot your food choices?

        To combat cravings, eat foods with a lot of fat. Cheese has a lot of fat. Cream has a lot of fat. I ate a lot chocolate mousse and banana mousse or add what ever flavoring you like.

        If you absolutely need it, try some sugar free candy. It can cause a stall but it's better than falling off the wagon.

        You can also try L-Glutamine. You can buy the powder at a supermarket or GNC.
