  • 11 lbs in 10 days, but stopped loosing

    Yesterday I reached my 14th day of induction. I was doing so great... lost nearly 12 lbs in the first 10 days, but since then I've stayed the same. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong - definitely not going over my 20g of carbs. I've walked a total of 22 miles in 11 days (last walk was Saturday) and I'm feeling good. Is the weight likely to start coming off again as I continue with extended induction? Do I need to change something up? The only thing different that I at towards the end of the 14 day induction is some turkey sausage (Italian Jenny-O kind) which has zero carbs and I couldn't see any additional ingredients that looked bad. Could this be the problem as I've been staying away from foods with hidden ingredients, but I thought I couldn't go wrong with Jenny-O turkey.

    My husband had the exact same scenario happen to him.

    Did you measure yourself?

    He was upset that he didn't lose weight after the 10th day too. Then he actually found that his belt was getting too big for him. So, he was losing inches off of his belly and didn't even know it.

      What are the ingredients on the Jenny O?

      It's probably just your body taking a break from the rapid loss. When I'm losing inches I don't lose hardly any weight so it could be that too. Also you arent' going to lose every day or even every week.

          The weight is likely to start coming off again ... but don't assume it's related to "extended Induction".

          You're supposed to lose most of your weigh on OWL.

          The phase is called "ongoing weight loss" for a reason.

          Induction is about getting your body ready to lose ... once it's ready ... what's to "extend"?

            I didn't measure myself, but I wish I had. I do feel slimmer so thats and more energetic.

                    Thanks for the info. I had read some success stories where people had continued Induction for a long period of time so I was planning on doing the same thing. The book also said that it's okay to continue the induction phase if you have a lot of weight to loose.

                      I am counting my carbs. Usually I'm around 16 carbs. I use fitday.com. My typical days menu is as follows:

                      Breakfast: 1 or 2 boiled eggs
                      Coffee (decaf) + 1 Splenda

                      Lunch:
                      2 - 4 oz lettucee
                      1 oz raw spinach
                      2 oz cheese
                      either chicken breast/shrimp/beef cubed (approx 3 - 4 oz)
                      1 tsp sour cream
                      1 tsp red wine vinegar

                      Dinner:
                      Either chicken drum sticks/braised pork/homemade beef/pork burgers/steak
                      4 oz broccoli or 4 stems of asparagus
                      Maybe a clove of garlic

                      And then I add in 2 tbs butter and 1 tbs olive oil for cooking. Sometimes I add in 1/4 avocado, but I count for it.

                          I think fitday.com tracks total carbs. I have a book at home that lists the net carbs, but since I find the online tracking useful, I use fitday as a basic quide to track what I've eaten.

                          As a rule, I follow the Atkins book - meat, fish, eggs liberally (I try not to have more than 2 eggs per day); Up to 8 oz of salad veg; Up to 5 oz of other veg listed in book; 3-4 oz cheese and occasionally I have 1/4 avo even though the book says I can have up to 1/2 an avo per day. I occasionally have a tbls mayo, heavy cream (no more than 3 tbs) and I usually have some butter. I drink at least 8 large glasses of water per day. I also take mulivitamin, calcium and omega 3. And on the weekend I had some Konsyl. I think that covers it

                            That's right. But FitDay also lists dietary fiber, so all you need to do in order to find net carbs is to subtract dietary fiber from total grams of carbohydrate. Dietary fiber is not digested and does not have an impact on your blood sugar, therefore it does not need to be counted.

                            I try not to have more than 2 eggs per day
                            Do you have no more than 2 just because you don't want more or are you worried about cholesterol?

                            In FitDay, what percentage of your calories is coming from fat?

                            I also take mulivitamin

                              congrats on the great start you have made.

                              it is perfectly normal to notice a sligth hesitation in scale weight loss after the initial loss and we atkinseers even call it PISS!
                              Measure now so you can see the inches of your bdoy fat being shed next time the scale refuses to move for you.


                              You can do extended induction if you want but you might like and do better with the added veggies from rung 1 of OWl and you could squat there and just keep losing with that extra amount of veggies to give you the vits and minerals that our limited induction amounts can cause defiencies in.

                              then once you see how good you feel and how much you are shrinking you might want to add rung 2 and have some yogurt or any other fresh dairy item. and you can sit right there for a month or more if you want seeing your body shrinking form all the work you are doing on both the mandatory exercise and the eating part of your atkins.

                              Life is easier when you get to rung 3 cause you can carry some nuts/seeds with you for a quick snack or even a meal if you are stuck in traffic or a meeting and you are hungry.

                              whe have to move to premaintnenace when we have 5-10 pounds to lose so doen't spend all your time building the foundation eating your induction foods and neglect the framing and walls of your house of atkins which is what OWL is all about. Youdon't want that roof to come crashing down when you move into your house of atkins as a goalie and be a regainer.
