  • Spices and Sugar substitues

I found that the premixed spices I was using all have Carbs.
Is it better to purchase them individually to avoid this? Is Cayenne Pepper allowed?

The packaging on Splenda shows Carbohydrates/Glucides 13g 0%
    Sugar Twin shows Carbohydrates 0%
Should I switch to Sugar Twin?

Are the Atkins bars allowed during Induction and Extended Induction?

    Trying to do things right.

All spices have carbs ... there are none that are 0. They shouldn't have added sugar.

    Yes.

For a list of carb counts for spices:

    >> The packaging on Splenda shows Carbohydrates/Glucides 13g 0%>>

    Where are you?

Splenda packets in the US are .9 net carbs each, and granular Splenda is 24 net carbs per cup (due to the fillers).

Splenda is the preferred sweetener, if you switch to Sugar Twin, it still counts as 1 net carb in the packet.

    They are not recommended.

I'm in Canada. Thanks for the list of carb counts for spices. I just double checked and was mistaken. The Splenda granulated is Carbs / Glucides 0.47 g 0% as per package. So I should stay with splenda but switch to the packets for my decaf coffee? I only like 1 tsp in my coffee and I'm not drinking much of that at all anymore but I like some now and again.

I'll stop the bars but what about the Atkins Shakes?

Granular or packet is up to you.

The shakes are less problematic than the bars, but they're not meal replacements. They can be handy in an emergency, but I wouldn't really rely on them.
