  • Newbie intro - glad to have found ADBB

Hi. I am an Atkins veteran, but have never stuck with it to reach my goal. I know that this is the best plan for my body chemistry, as I have some very funky insulin problems.
Started last Fri, and have been really committed. Took a 2 mile walk at lunchtime today (that's a first for me!). Hard to find time to work out - I'm a single mom w/two young kids (neither of which has a weight problem, TG).
Have been wondering how everyone has determined their goal weight. I really can't imagine I'll ever get down to even the high end of the weight chart (150) for my height (5'7"). I want to be a healthy weight, but not sure how to figure that out. Input welcome.
I intend to be an active member of this board. I know how much support and encouragement and inspiration can help - no matter what you're trying to accomplish (or get through). Thanks for being here!
Have to set up my ticker (I love that idea!). Until then, here are my stats:
    HW: 238/SW:217/CW:213/GW??
Down 4 lbs in 3 days!

    Welcome to ADBB!

I think the best plan for a "goal" weight is when you feel comfortable in your own skin ... and clothes.

Picking a number doesn't often work out ... since sometimes we simply can't achieve a particular number ... and many find that because of the change in their body, a higher number on the scale puts them in smaller clothes ... which makes most women happy.

I just picked half my original weight as a goal weight (just because most support boards like you to list the SW/CW/GW)
But as Atkinsgal said, scales numbrs are not always the most sensible goals to set on Atkins as our body shape changes as we lose fat.
My final goal will be when I have got rid of all those flabby overhangs, no mattter what the scales say!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks, ladies. The number thing has always been difficult for me because it's not really the best measurement (literally) of how you feel/what you look like. I have picked a goal number (160), but, frankly, I am more focused right now on the process, on the commitment, on the behaviors - making good choices and exercising. Oh, and the emotional part - believing I can do it and I'm worth doing it for.

        Have a great day!
