  • Strange symptoms?

    Hi all,

I am new to the board. Have been finding it very helpful.

Just had a question about Atkins flu and some strange symptoms I've been having.

I am on day 9 of a clean induction, a couple of days I may have gone over with 1-2oz of sweetener or cheese, but I'd say it's been 90% clean.

The first couple of days I felt great, especially noticing that my face is much less puffy in the mornings.

Today however, I woke up with these symptoms.

-Big headache (actually woke me up at 5am)
    -tension in my molars
    -general tension in my head
    -puffy/tired looking face
    -very thirsty

I am wondering if this is the Atkins flu, as when I tried Atkins Induction a while back I also suffered from these EXACT symptoms for 3-4 days and then they went away and I felt fine. But isn't it a bit late in the game for me to be experiencing this? And isn't it usually a tired feeling? (I have had a good amount of energy since day 3-4).

Checked keto strips yesterday for first time (after a loooong walk) and they turned out "trace".

I drink the recommended amount of water and take these supplements:
    1- magnesium/potassium
    2-multi-vit
    3- vit d
    4- coq10
    5-fish oil omega 3
every other day i take atenol for high blood pressure (i'm 28!!!! and under 130lbs!!)

    more info in the sig

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance ^_^

Not necessarily. There's no right or wrong time. Nor is there a "usual".

They're not reliable for much of anything ...

    >>potassium>>

You might want to check to make sure that this isn't contraindicated with the atenol ... many heart medications warn against taking OTC potassium.

As Atkinsgal said, it is not uncommon to get 'induction flu' further into your Atkins journey

I hope the sensations pass quickly for you and you are soon experiencing the nicer effects of following the Atkins WOE.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
