  • Not a good day....

I had a not so atkins friendly day today. I was so late getting out of the house today that I had to stop and grab lunch at the gas station.(Really late, needed gas anyway) I grabbed some little sausages and some jerky. I know it is not good, and after I ate them I looked at the ingredients and the jerky had sugar listed as the second ingredient. I'm not gonna go over carb wise, but I feel guilty because I ate no veggies, and the protien I ate was junk. I'll have some salad for dinner with some pork, but I still feel like I cheated today. Would it have been better to not eat for 11 hours than to eat that junk? Please don't bash me in your responses, I know I was making bad choices. Also, if I have a day like today can I still count it as a day of induction, or do I have to not count today as one of my 14. I am moving to OWL as soon as allowed because I want to reward my self for the weight I have been losing.

    Re: Not a good day....

You really need to plan better.

Make some stuff that you can grab from your own refrigerator.

It's not just about the carb count ... it's about the quality.

    >>if I have a day like today can I still count it as a day of induction, >>

Yes, it's a day that counts. That you didn't do very well doesn't change the reality of it's a day on Induction.

    >>Would it have been better to not eat for 11 hours than to eat that junk?>>

    No.
Did you expect to find something "acceptable" at a gas station?

It wasn't that I didn't plan, I just paniced when I saw the clock. I have premade a weeks worth of lunches for work. I was halfway to work and looked down and said oh crap! I didn't bring it. At least I stayed away from the cheese danishes which are one of the main culprits in my hugeness. On the bright side, I have pork and cauliflower waiting for me when I get home!

This is still counted as one of your days of Induction.

Chalk this up to a learning experience: be prepared the next time. If that means having a bowl of hard boiled eggs in your refrigerator so you can quickly grab a few for breakfast, then have that bowl in there.

I find it easier to pack my lunches immediately after dinner (because I tend to bring leftovers for lunch). So it's just a matter of grabbing my lunch as I head out the door in the morning.

I love BBQ. Are you using a dry rub or a sauce? To bad I don't live in NC or you would have me over for dinner. Yum

I agree with Megs, learn from it and move on.

Think about this ... you had time to stop for gas ... even after you panicked about the time ... so didn't you really have the time to grab your already prepared lunch?

You might want to ponder the idea of self-sabotage.

count it as an induction day for sure

to answer your question NO not eatting for 11 hours would not have been a better idea cause by then you would have inhaled everything you passed on the way home including hose danishes you didn't have.

did you look in the cold food area to see if they had any foods you could have eatten instide of the stix?most gas stations have a cold food area where you could find some cheese or meats should it happen ever again.

I hate when I take off out the door without food I've put together ahead of time, ao I've made sure I no longer suffer that frustration I have a small ice chest I take with me each time I get in the car with healthy stuff and water (there are NO places within 50 miles to get friendly food). What I now do is I "hook" my keys on the ice chest. Can't forget that way

OK, Here is a thought if this happens again, Hopefully it won't, but stuff happens, OK? In my neighborhood, most of the gas stations are like mini marts, and some are like a small cafe. One of the two that are closest to me even bake their own breads and rolls. They make made to order sandwiches, fresh salads, etc. They sell veggies and yogurt and fresh fruit cups...(Not that I am saying to eat bread, just trying to make a point of the convenience and availability.) They are literally like a mini restaurant to go.

Do you have any gas stations in the area that are like that? If you do, Next time kill two birds with one stone. Order up or pick up something already made that resembles something Atkins friendly.

                        Good Luck!

If it happens again you can always pick up a breakfast sandwhich and take off the bread. Just a suggestion.

I know, but I'm still looking forward to it. I will feel like I am making progress towards a new lifelong way of eating. It helps me to know that the weight I lose will be gone forever, and that Atkins is not a temporary fix for me.
