  • Day five.. and I blew it.

It was our BIG party for our 30th anniversary for a club I'm involved with. I was making food, decorations, and came up with this theme before my Dr wanted me to start Atkins. However, I was smug with myself that I could handle it... and stupid that I SOOO forgot about this weekend was the party I was helping Co-chair! I should of started AFTER!! The theme was also Chocolate & Cocktails and I had been looking forward to it for a long time.

How does one step away from fruit and a chocolate fountain when they go on a diet they really didn't plan on it... So, I wasn't brave.. I made mistakes... and a strawberry and brownie just jumped onto my plate

Do I start back in the beginning.. or do I just go on and learn from my ill ways.

    Thank you all!

You say, "my that looks lovely" ... and you walk away.

    >>a strawberry and brownie just jumped onto my plate>>

That's amazing ... isn't food with locomotion just the most amazing thing?

I would continue on ... and spend some time thinking about how you'll handle the next "food event" ... after all, you don't want any Easter candy jumping in to bed with you!

It was a difficult situation, but it is over and done with now so just continue to eat to plan.

Be prepared to counteract any cravings you get over the next day or so by having plenty of 'legal' high-fat snacks available.

Next time the same sort of celebration is planned, make sure you have progressed up the OWL ladder at least rung 4 so you can take some whipped cream with you and have a bowl of strawberries and cream!!

          Thank you all.

Actually, I really am not hitting any cravings today for I feel like a big ol truck hit me!! My body had started to feel a lot better without the carbs and today it feels gross. I had never noticed that reaction before, but that was some of the symptoms I was telling my Dr.

I am sorry to hear you are feeling bad today, but glad in a way that you are finding one more reason to stay on-plan in the future
Next time you are 'tempted' by those off-plan choices, try to remember how you feel now and it will help reinforce your decision to eat Atkins.
