  • One week completed!!!

Down 5.5 pounds in one week, but I weighed again today on the 8th day and total weight lost now is 6.5 pounds!!!

Now, one more week to go before I decide if I go to extended Induction!!

The first two days or so were tough as my body detoxed, but it got easier and easier and my cravings for sugar are gone, although had one accidental slip up. Read the post about it here on this website at the main atkins page, if you'd like. I was told something was sugar free and it was not!

I am ready for week two!!!!!

You should really move to OWL ... you don't have so much to lose that "extended" Induction is likely to help.

You'll need the time on OWL.

Atkinsgal, what I meant was after 2nd week of induction, I will weigh myself and see how close I am to goal and decide to move to Owl or stay on induction.

And you are implying that I will most likely after 2nd week, be within the goal range Dr. Atkins wants one to be to then enter OWL, right?

I am predicting that I might need an extra two weeks of induction and then will be ready to move to OWL. Who knows, we'll see. I still have possibly 28 or so pounds to lose.

          Thanks for your help!

There is no "goal range" of when you move to OWL.

Since you only have 28 or so pounds to lose, and pre-maintenance is 5-10 pounds from goal (that's the only time a specific weight range is mentioned), you need the time on OWL to learn what foods work for your body ... and OWL is the phase where you should lost most of your weight.

Induction gets your body ready to lose ... you do the bulk of your losing on the Ongoing Weight Loss phase.

              Re: One week completed!!!

I started close to your sw and my goal weight is similar to yours. I would suggest moving to OWL as soon as your 2 weeks are up and start progressing through the rungs. I did my 2 weeks and then started moving up the ladder. I am now about to start pre maint and I haven't even made it through all the rungs yet. The longer you stay on induction the longer it will take you to get through the rungs and you will be like me.

It is very important to progress through the rungs. I have learned so much about what I can and can't eat now that I never even knew before. I too was worried that it may stall me or I wouldn't lose as quickly moving up but I have lost just as well and had no stalls (knock on wood) yet.

              Good Luck.
