  • Kinda disappointed so far- mild vent

I know it's really early but I'm only down 1 lb. in six days. I haven't been totally perfect, but I have stayed under the 20 g. net carbs every day.

A few years ago I did an eating plan where I ate no carbs before noon, then ate limited carbs for lunch and dinner for a total of around 40-60 carbs per day-- and I lost 6 lbs in the first 12 days. I started out about 4 lbs heavier than I started this time. I was kind of hoping Atkins would work even better so I'm a little bummed.

Oh well, I'll keep going and see what happens in the next week or so.

Sorry to be a bore but you have to be 'totally perfect' during induction in order to get the best results. Good luck and try to do a clean induction and see what happens x

      Hi,
      How tall are you?
Also, what you lost last time might disappoint you compared with the pounds lost THIS time, but your body is different than it was a few years ago, and what and how you ate is probably different.

So let's look at the present and future.

Seeing that you are not a lot overweight compared to others like me, (I needed to lose quite a bit of pounds), you will not lose (number wise)what you are hoping for during induction and you will probably lose slower since you are close to your goal weight.

But percentage wise, you may end up being right on track.

Re: Kinda disappointed so far- mild vent

congrats on your early success in shedding over 6% of your needed to shed body weight in only 6 days. for somebody like me that would have been almost 10 pounds.
Just think how much closer to your goal weight you will be when you measure and weigh on day 15

what are you doing for that mandatory exercise part of your atkins? if that exercise is new to your body it can slow scale weight loss ofr a while as your body adjusts to the new to your muscles load but once it does you will drop that fluid retention and see even more of your needed to shed body weight being gone.

Atkins isn't so much about staying under 20 net carbs as it is the right carbs. What exactly does not perfect mean?

I eat better then I did before I lost weight a few years ago because I realized how badly carbs affected me. I got off the wagon after about a year and a half ago, gained 8-10 lbs right away and the remainder has been a slow creep. I'm sure it would have been worse if I hadn't been at least moderating the carbs (most of the time).
Of course it is true I am a few years older.

Thanks for the encouragement. What bothers me is that I started with carrying just a few more pounds the last time, and I lost faster. Well, I will just keep going and see what happens.

I guess that's an optimistic way to look at it!

I've been an exerciser for all of my adult life. I do strength training 3 times a week and cardio usually around 5 times per week. I also walk a lot just as a matter of course. I haven't changed my exercise routine.

              I'll just keep at it.

                Minerva,

I think you will do just fine, just keep following the plan properly

Yes, the age thing, it seems like for many of us the older we get, the slower we lose.
But my attitude now is not to look back at what I should have done, but to keep looking forward as to how I am living/eating now. And to make the best of it!

                BTW, I am 5'2"-ish also, (I was 5"4", but I guess I am shrinking)

I do not remember ever being 107. It must have happened at a time that I didn't get on a scale!!!LOL. I did weigh 123 on my wedding day.

OK, the other day I was starving so I ate a low-carb whole wheat tortilla with butter on it (5 g. net carbs, but fast carbs).

Also a couple times I put about 1/4 cup of white wine into my stevia lemonade (which I make with stevia, not sugar, and go light on the lemon juice).

And I drink a cup of black tea every day. Maybe that is the culprit, although I drank tea before when I was low-ish carbing.

Did you keep off the weight that you lost "faster"?

Comparing "this time" to "last time" if futile ... unless you're a time traveller, the only time that you have is "now".

Why not put your best effort into "now" ... (stop the sloppiness ... no whole wheat tortilla, no white wine) ... don't let yourself get "starving".

Are you eating all your vegetables, limiting yourself to 3 servings of sweetener, and drinking all your water? (and that "stevia lemonade" isn't water)
