  • Slim Jims...

It says 4carbs for 4 slim jims. so my question is can I eat slim jims... Im new to this and i'm truly struggling.. alot of things are happening in my life and im depressed.. I started atkins on feb 23rd. I have not weighed myself yet.. If I do and I havent lost weight I might just go insane.. I can fit into a pair of jeans... but that might mean I have only lost like 5 lbs. I'll be crushed. I will weigh myself... probably by the end of this week.. Im just praying I lost something... any advice would be great..

I responded to your anxiety issue on a different post.

As for Slim Jims, I believe I saw a list of ingredients on another recent post which indicated sugar. I would consider a different snack, especially because the sugar in the Slim Jims may be a cause of your "depression." I know I have depression listed in my stats, but I need to change that since after a week away from sugar, my mood has greatly improved if not my weight. I can't really comment on the latter since I plan to weigh myself for the 1st time after I complete two full weeks of Induction. Keep the faith!

Slim Jims are full of junk... very processed stuff.

Why would be "crushed" if you lost "only" 5 lbs? What's wrong with 5 lbs?

And the number on the scale is only one of the many ways to measure our success on Atkins. Did you read Chapter 12 in Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)?

        Re: Slim Jims...

If you have been doing the induction cleanly for all that time then you are sure to have lost more than 5.
I know what you mean about having a differcult time of things. But take control of this and you will feel much more enpowered in other things in your life.
I had a bad day yesterday, felt like finishing with Atkins. But i just got through and today I feel much more positive. Make sure you vary your menu- that was my mistake.
I cant wait to hear how much you have lost! will look out for your post!

          Re: Slim Jims...

Instead of Slimjims, try finding a beef jerky without filler that is not made with sugar. Or, to be even more sure of what you're eating, invest in a dehydrator and make your own jerky out of cheap strips of flank steak, chicken, venison...the list is endless. You can add acceptable seasonings and know that you're not taking in hidden carbs! Later, when you are able to add fruits into your daily eating, you can make dried berries, pineapple, and other dried fruits that are often not available commercially without added sugar.

            Great suggestion about the dehydrator!!

I made my own 'jerky' when I first bought mine and it was so tasty that my (non-LC) dh kept pinching them, so I never found out how long they would last !!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
