    And i feel great!

In two weeks I am down 8 pounds...I know about 5 was water weight, but I'll take any kind of weight loss. Even better, I lost an inch and a half off my waist and my tummy looks flat!

This is the first time I truly did "Atkins"- eating veggies, referencing the book, and NO NUTS or other little treats (protein powder, sf chocolates, etc)...

    And it works!!

I am going to stay on induction for another 1-2 weeks. I want to get into a groove, especially because I was travelling last week to Caracas (the land where vegetables fear to tread) and although I did not go off plan at all, I want 1-2 solid weeks at home.

After that (more pumpkin) I'll start adding (pumpkin) the 5g of veggies (pumpkin). Maybe more pumpkin.

Ideally I'd like to drop 7-12 more pounds (i'm guessing my ideal weight is between 115-110), but as I am also doing heavy weight lifting (am insanely weak) I will be relying more on clothes size and measurements.

Thanks to everyone for all your help and support!!! I plan on this really being a WOL.

That is a great result for you. Way to go. Do not be afraid of OWL. With little to lose it is good to still take time to slowly familiarize yourself with those carby foods and make a good sustainable eating plan.
    I am very impressed.

      What a great start, Carne!!!

I am sure you will enjoy OWL once you are established in your induction eating groove
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

            Thanks guys

I must admit, this is where it always goes downhill for me....I start to think I can have foods I shouldn't and it all spirals out of control!! But I think I can do it proper this time.

I am frankly a little scared of OWL, as I have never done it before....I think slowly but surely is the answer for me.

congrats on the great beginings you have made.

what is there to fear about having just 5 more net grams of carbs of those yummy induction veggies? that is what OWL rung one is all about. You can do it. read chapter 14 of your DANDR and be bold in your eating now with all those veggies.

                Re: 2 weeks completed

                2big you're right....

I suppose I am afraid of OWL because I have never been able to get off induction properly (or frankly DO induction properly).

Because I have a relatively low metabolic resistance I think I can get away with little cheats, or going up rungs I shouldn't, while not even measuring my carbs. Of course this always leads to cravings and failure.

I'm committed to doing OWL, I think I just need one more week on induction and then i'll move on. Excited for more cauliflower mash and pumpkin....and it's asparagus season in Miami! YUM!

You "simply" add another 5 net carbs of Induction vegetables to start.

Congrats on your success so far, and on identifying the behaviours that have caused you to fail in the past...that is SO important! I'm glad that you have had a positive experience doing Atkins "by the book" May I suggest that you try OWL rung 1 sooner rather than later? It is VERY similar to induction...but will maybe help alleviate the fear/anxiety you have about OWL You have been successful doing induction in a way that you have never done it before...perhaps doing OWL as you have never done before will lead to ever better success? Change is GOOD
                      Best Wishes!

PS - I have lost 85lbs on OWL

glad you are adding those veggies from OWL. afterall 20-40 cals of veggies ( depending on the fiber and fat content of the veggie) will not make you fat any time soon.
