Any plans of getting the book and reading it?Originally posted by kkmills View PostThis is my first time trying Atkins I have only read thing online and have not read the book.
ADBB goes by the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution.
The limit is in the book. That's why reading online is not enough. Also I had not seen any restrictions on sweatner daily intake??
Sweeteners are limited to 3 servings per day.
How much water do you drink?drink water
How much Splenda do you use?I have been making tea with the splenda and have one glass a day
Don't forget to count the carbs in tea and the carbs in Splenda.
I have read that you can have sugar free jello and whip heavy cream for topping and then I have heard that you can not anyone know which?Sugar free gelatin is fine for Induction. Dr. Atkins recommended avoiding aspartame.also have had low carb fudge bars made with splenda and then last night I had a sugar free jello
Heavy cream is fine. You need to whip it yourself though... the stuff that comes in a pressurized container typically has sugar and other crap added to it.
What are the ingredients in the bars?

Yes I have ordered the book waiting for it to get here.
As for water 64 oz or more a day.
As for the tea I make it by the gallon for my kids and bf so one cup of splenda per gallon not sure how that all breaks down though.
The bars are a low carb ice cream bar has three net carbs and is made with splenda. How do you figure out carbs in splenda when the package says none? I am confused!

More is generally better.
>> The bars are a low carb ice cream bar has three net carbs and is made with splenda.>>
Not allowed on Induction though.

One cup of granular Splenda is 24 net carbs.J.

That's a lot!Originally posted by kkmills View Postone cup of splenda per gallon
It means a tablespoon of Splenda per cup... and a tablespoon of granular Splenda is 3 servings of sweetener.
I bet you can't find the ingredients on the Acceptable Foods List:The bars are a low carb ice cream bar

Re: Day Three first time around!
Is the splenda you use the granulated stuff that comes in a jar or box? There should be some nutrition info on the label which will tell you the carb count of it.
The one I buy (in UK) says to count 0.5 carbs per flat teaspoon of it.
One cup of it would therefore have 48 teaspoons = 24 carbs per cup.
One gallon in USA holds 16 US cups, so one (8 fluid ounces) cup of the tea would have 1.5 carbs from the splenda plus however many carbs are in the tea.
According to fitday.com, one 8 ounce cup of unsweetened ordinary tea has about 0.7 carbs in it, making each cup of your tea to have about 2.2 carbs.
The bar has 3 net carbs (if you are accepting the manufacturer's deductions of any sugar alcohols in it) so you count 3 carbs for that. However you do also need to check the actual ingredients in the bar to make sure they are OK for your phase of Atkins
Out of curiosity, which kind of splenda do you have that says there are no carbs in it? As far as I know all granulated splenda has something added to it to make it roughly the same sweetness of sugar. It is this additive which gives the carbs in packets and spoons of splenda.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I guess that this is where I am confused. I bought the off brand of splenda from local Walmart and read the label it says 0 for everything and have read the entire bag and says nothing about carbs also my box of lipton tea says 0 carbs also. So trying to figure out where the carbs are coming from. I will have to look better tonight and maybe take a picture and post. I do see at work we have splenda packets and they say less then one carb per pack but mine like I said is the off brand and says 0.

That's because labels "round". They serving size is small enough so they can say 0 ... it makes everyone feel great about all the 0 food they're eating! ... but the truth is, it's not 0.
Even the Walmart brand is 24 net carbs per cup.
Same for tea.
That's why you need a reliable carb counter ... such as the Dr. Atkins New Carbohydrate Gram counter book, (where the carbs for tea/coffee come from) ... or an on-line source such as the USDA www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ or FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or All Things Food and Diet - FatSecret to check carb counts ... especially of those pesky (and mostly untrue) 0 carb labels.J.

Liquid sucralose has no carbs, but we still include each serving of it as one of our maximum 3 sweeteners a day.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
