  • 2002 version vs. The New You

I bought the Atkins The New You thinking that is would be great and now I come to the message board and everyone is doing the 2002 version.

What is the difference?? I see that people have said they lost more on the old version. Do I need to buy that book too or is there someplace here that will tell me the difference?

I am going to Oahu in May and REALLY need to quick start the weight loss!! Also, just got back my class pictures at school and look like a whale! Was embarrassed for my kids to take them home!!

    HELP!!!

That's the book ADBB has been following for years.

    What is the difference??
Since you have the 2010 book, you can see how the Induction phases are different by checking out the Atkins 2002 FAQs linked to in this thread:

I see that people have said they lost more on the old version.
I know what thread you are talking about (it's only one, as far as I'm aware) and, as I also pointed out there, there are many reasons why weight loss might have been different in one week following DANDR 2002.

Do I need to buy that book too
I would buy it... because it's more "sciency" than The New Atkins for a New You... it explains some things in more detail.

You need to choose which version you want to follow... and, for Induction, the link above will help.

You can also check the stickies in the OWL forum, to see how the OWL phases are different.

In my opinion, you can be successful on either of the two plans.

Re: 2002 version vs. The New You

I think it will be really good if you could find the old version too. Atkins 2002 will stress the importance of getting into ketosis but the new book does not mention it. So it would be good if you could read about ketosis in the old version. The 2002 is very often very easy to find used or on ebay or something for not a lot. So look around.
Yes this massage board stick to 2002 which is the last version of the diet created while Atkins was still around. The books after 2003 are all by the company that owns the right to brand things Atkins.

The company makes itsmoney selling Atkins products and have introduced this element they like to call flexibility that allows for more products if they are very low carb. Here on ADBB we tend to stress whole foods as a key.

I would suggest just start out with your book. The differences on induction are not that major. It is about eating whole food plenty of veggies and drinking clean water. Water is something we stress more than they do in the new version. The veggies on the list are practically the same with some minor issues.

Here are some stickies from the allowed food list on 2002 and you can always go by them if you like.

The "new" book stresses that, too.

One thing I have learned, is that everyone's interpretation of the new book is different. Here is a thread where this was discussed. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...kins-book.html

We give advice based upon the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution on this board.

            Good luck!
