  • Bacon/Butternut Squash UK Induction friendly?

    Hi guys,

Basically i just wanted to check if some of the foods i've bought is ok before i eat it. I bought some bacon today from Morrisons, which in the ingredients list says: Pork (87%), Water, Salt, Preservatives (E252,E250), Antioxidant (E301)
The nutritional information states it has trace carbs but i'm worried on whether its nitrite/nitrate free. Would the packet normally state if it did contain nitrates?

Also i bought butternut squash thinking it might be the UK version of summer squash, but after googling i'm not quite sure............

    Any help appreciated!! xx

    E252 is potassium nitrate.

    E250 is sodium nitrite.

I wouldn't worry about nitrites/nitrates... unless you eat A LOT of bacon.

Butternut squash is a starchy vegetable and only allowed in OWL Rung 8.

The summer squashes available in UK are only vegetable marrow I think, as most of the other squashes are the winter squashes like acorn and butternut.

Sometimes I have found spaghetti squash but it is very limited in season.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Too much bacon (as for any other 'legal' food) is more than you need to make you feel no longer hungry.

Some people find that eating foods with a lot of salt cause them to retain water and add to their scales weight or cause bloating. Most bacon is fairly salty so might affect you in this way.

water and salt it looks like. It is much better to try to see if you can find meat not injected with salted water. You pay big for that water.

I've seen people having a pound of bacon for a snack...

That would be "A LOT", imo.

Agreed, too much bacon with added salt is going to cause bloating for most of us.
