    Sausages are tough because those who make them stuff them with sugars and fillers. I have not found a clean sausage. So it should have no sugar or dextrose and no starches or syrups or wheats. So check the label carefully.

      Re: Sausage on Induction

      I just went to my freezer to check the sausage I just bought.... It's Jimmy Dean's, turkey sausage patties. They have one total carb and 1g of sugar. The ingredients list: "boneless turkey, water, contains 2% or less of the following: sodium lactate, salt, dextrose, sugar, spices, sodium phosphate, sodium diacetate, BHT, citric acid, caramel color."

      Hmmm.... thanks for mentioning this.

        BHT
        Really. They should not be adding that to food.

            Jones All Natural Pork Sausage (patties, links, roll) in the frozen food case.

            Ingredients: pork, water, salt, spices.

            Check the label ingredients to make sure you are not picking up one of the other versions that contain sugars in them.

              In UK it is near to impossible to buy sausages without wheat and sugars so I tend to make my own from ground meat instead.

                  It might be fine depending on its ingredients - you need to ask what they put in them.

                    Re: Sausage on Induction

                    most of the dinner sausages have more fillers then the breakfast ones, but ask your butcher what is in the sausage and count the carbs in your daily total. if you have cravings or tummy issues then you know you can't at this time handle that sausage as part of your atkins.

                      Thanks for all the input....it has been very helpful in my making the decision to just stay away from breakfast sausage. My other question was what to watch for in regards to bacon? Should i start another thread on this?

                          Ack! I've been chowing down on sausage, too. Quick, easy protein for breakfast, I was thinking. And a quick glance at the label showed it to be low carb. But I just checked the ingredients list. #2, behind beef, was corn syrup. {big sigh}
