  • Day 10 - Aching, weight constant

    HI,

I am now on day 10 and my weight seems to have stayed the same since last week. I am also experiencing lots of aches in my muscles and feeling so tired. Went to the gym lastnight and ended up wrecked afterwards and in bed by 9pm!
My pee also smells very strange so I think Im in ketosis, I was hoping I would have more energy by now though.
Not sure if I should continue the intro stage for another week to see if my weight drops any?

    Hi Cat
Good for you for exercising so early in your Atkins journey
As you have already lost about 1/3rd of the total amount of weight you want to lose I would not even think about carrying on induction after your first 14 days

After day 14 move to the second phase of Atkins

Are you taking note of your measurements as well as the scales numbers?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Could you post a menu, with amounts and net carbs for everything?

Are you taking a multivitamin without iron?

How much water are you drinking?

You'll see your weight drop in OWL, too.

With only 9 lbs left to lose, you should DEFINITELY move to OWL.

And if your ticker is correct, you'd be underweight at goal. Have you discussed your weight goal with your physician?

Re: Day 10 - Aching, weight constant

Thanks for the helpful replies guys! I will do my homework about whats involved in moving to OWL at the weekend.

I had not been doing measurements but I will start doing so now. I dont know if some of the problem is that I might be slightly constipated. I have been taking my fibre in my water but I have not seen the psyllium husks or flax seeds anywhere over here.

I have been mostly following the menus from Atkins Recipes - Course. I am taking vitamins and drinking more water than specified.

My goal weight is the weight I was in college a few years ago. I was so happy with my figure back then so I'm hoping this isnt too thin. I just want to get to a point where if I was to put on a few lbs at Christmas again, I wouldn't feel too fat like I did this year.

          It can be...

I have been taking my fibre in my water
What fiber are you taking in water?

I have not seen the psyllium husks or flax seeds anywhere over here.
Flax seeds are called linseeds in the UK.

I have been mostly following the menus from Atkins Recipes - Course.
If you use the recipes there, make sure they are allowed on Induction -- check the ingredients yourself! Not all the recipes listed at Atkins.com as acceptable for Phase 1 are actually Induction-friendly.

Same applies if you are using their 2-week sample menu.

Also, if you are using their menu, you could be undereating calories.

I just want to get to a point where if I was to put on a few lbs at Christmas again, I wouldn't feel too fat like I did this year.
Why not just watch what you eat during Christmas?

Re: Day 10 - Aching, weight constant

Hi Cat - I got psyllium husk and linseeds from my local health food shop.

Holland & Barratt do sell it but they are much more expensive

Re: Day 10 - Aching, weight constant

Do move into OWL. The first stage is simply adding 5 grams more of the same veggies. You will be getting more fiber (which you need) and will still lose. That is an easy step to take and then you can look into the Dairy step, Nuts, etc.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
