  • Sugar intake and how I feel....

I am on day 4 of Induction, and so far so good!

I have mentioned in a previous post at how much I hated drinking water, and now, it is all I drink, well, besides a flavored drink or two. I used to drink soda all day long for pretty much my entire life, but now, I just drink water and I don't even crave any sugary drinks at all!

I work at a restaurant, and when I had cravings before the diet, I would just indulge myself. Now, if I see a strawberry or Doritos, I still kinda want to eat them, but I easily just walk away and forget about it. It is like my cravings are still there, but not important to me anymore. It is a weird feelings having cravings, but not actually craving the food enough to reach out and eat it.

I have lost around 4 pounds in 4 days so far (water weight I am sure). I only eat anywhere from 700 - 900 calories a day, and I feel fine! I don't feel hungry much, and I don't ever feel the need to really snack, and when I do, I just et a slice a bacon or a mozzarella cheese stick. I don't crave sugar anymore.

    Am I in Lipolysis / Ketosis? I assume I am, but I am not sure. Every indication says I am, but here is my issue;

I eat pork grinds, which contain sugar, and I eat the cooked bacon the restaurant has like a snack, usually 2 slices a day, and I know that it must contain sugar as well. Even though I eat these products, which say Sugar on the label, am I safe in staying in Induction whith this sugar content? I know eating sugar products should make you crave more sugar products, but I don't crave anything.

Is it possible that my body can consume the amount of sugar I am consuming now (without adding anymore sugar to my diet) and still be 'good' in Induction? The sugar amount I am consuming seems negligible, and I do not crave anything sweet at all.

I must say, that if everything is fine with me, this diet is just awesome!
I just feel confused if I am doing it right, if that makes any sense.

    >>I only eat anywhere from 700 - 900 calories a day,>

That will put your body in famine mode rather quickly. And then you'll stop losing.

It's also not nutritionally sound ... since you're probably undereating both in fat and vegetables.

    >> I eat pork grinds, which contain sugar,>>

Get the ones that don't have sugar then.

You would do better to snack on vegetables.

Yes you are definitely undereating......how great is it to be told that! Your calorie in take is too low.In induction you really need to aviod products that have added sugar..........but well done on your weight loss you will soon get the hang of it and learn about all the foods you can eat

        good job on the water
        Sugar is not cool.
Are those pork rinds? They should not have sugar.
        Eat vegetables. They rock

Thank you all for your help.

I eat Pork Rinds which are BBQ flavored, so that is why they have sugar.

About the under eating thing, I don't feel like eating! Am I supposed to force myself to eat or something because I feel perfectly fine eating that many calories.

And about the veggies, I only can eat so many veggies a day, and the amount is so small anyway. Only a few cups or ounces. That is why I snack on chicken wings (plain, but with some spices) and pork rinds. I am afraid of going over the allotment of veggies per day.

Just for information sake, I am a body builder, and I am used to listening to my body over instructions given. I normally don't diet like this, so this is new to me. Normally if I want to lose weight I do other things, but I am trying something different this time around. I am 5'4" and I weigh (or did) 192 pounds, so I got plenty of fat stored around me.

Should not be afraid of the good carbs (veggies) and therefore replace them with bad carbs (sugar).
are you eating three cups of substantial veggies?

You're eating way to little. If I was a body builder I would be concerned about losing muscle doing that.

Don't eat them. They're not Atkins friendly. It's really pretty simple.

If you measure or count your carbs, then you won't.

Doing what you're doing isn't Atkins.

No do not force yourself to eat when not hungry, unless you have been 6 hours wihtout eating anything.

Instead of eating something nutritionally lacking (like pork rinds with sugar) at those times you do fancy eating something it would be better to 'use' that little bit of appetite instead to eat something nutritious to help build your body's muscles.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
