  • Day 1!!!

and thrilled to be starting this diet.

Lost 3 stone on Cambridge Diet a couple of years ago and put 2 back on!!! Can't believe I allowed myself to put it all back on.. I guess the reason I'm here and so excited is this is a new way of life. I loved Cambridge I won't lie to you.. but moved away from my counsellor and fell off the wagon.. This is a diet I believe I can stick to forever.. The book is amazing and makes perfect sense.

I guess the hard thing for me is the silly hours I work. I get up at 4am and don't fancy food.. (would an Atkins shake do for breakfast?) and I get so so busy that I forget to eat!! then binge on all the wrong stuff..

Thoughts and tips would be brilliant.. I consider you all my counsellors!! xxx

First problem!! Copied and pasted ticker and it hasn't worked!! xx

    Re: Day 1!!!

    Hi

    Welcome to our ADBB fanily

I am glad you have read the book and are raring to go!!

I would avoid any of the 'lowcarb' products especially on induction, as they often contain ingredioents not 'legal' for this phase of your new way of eating. If you do, make sure you check the label for the ingredients list before deciding to use them rather than relying on the label information for which phase they are suitable.

Shakes are often too high in protein for this WOE so you would need to add fat to them to avoid eating 'excess protein'. There is an 'induction-legal' one that a lot of our members like in our extended induction forum you could try if you need to drink your breakfast.

AS for your ticker - here is a good instruction thread on how to do it
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Thanks so much and FABULOUS weight loss pics!!

The shakes I was wondering about are the official atkins shakes which it says are compatible with induction?

        Re: Day 1!!!

I know that some Atkins products are safe for induction. On the back, they say what phase they are acceptable in.

I have not had a lot of experience, so maybe someone else can correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I remember reading that using induction safe Atkins bars or shakes is fine if you are in a pinch but that those carbs should not replace your necessary veggie carbs for the day.

I like to use the Atkins bar for my afternoon snack, has helped to really take the edge/cravings off during my peak craving time.

          Re: Day 1!!!

Most say they are ok but if you read the ingredients they have non induction friendly things in them. A lot of people stall out on shakes and bars. You could try them if you want and see, you may not.

Better to make your own shake. Only takes a minute and they are super yummy. I make mine with:

          2tbsp cream
          2 raw eggs
          1/2tsp vanilla
          1/2tsp splenda
          2 ice cubes
          Dash of pumpkin pie spice

Poobear, that sounds very good....thank you for sharing.

Don't flame me here...but...is it really okay to eat raw eggs? I don't know, never had a raw egg in my life.

                Re: Day 1!!!

I was icked out at the thought of raw eggs until I realize I ate them a lot. If you ever ate raw cookie dough, brownie mix etc you've had raw eggs or if you drink traditional eggnog. I was also worried about the slimy-ness of it. Actually when it's all blended up there is no slime at all, it's frothy like a icee or something. I think the risk of getting sick from raw eggs is very low. People have included them in their diets for years with no ill effects. Weight lifters, runners, dieters etc.

My shake makes about 1/2-3/4 of a glass, add a 1-2 more eggs and a couple of ice cubes to make a full glass. This is more than enough for me. They are surprisingly filling.
