  • Back... restarting... again....

I was supposed to start induction yesterday but got hit with a doozy of a flu, so I decided to put it off till today....I didn't eat anything at all yesterday so I guess you could say I was "cleaning out the system" to prepare for today...only the hard way...

Today, I am still a bit iffy in the guts area but attempting to stay on track for day 1 anyhow.

History on why I am having to restart: Hubby was gone for 6 weeks (lost weight fine for most of that), his niece & her hubby came to stay with us while she was waiting to have her baby (the villagers come into town to be close to a hospital, native alaskans), then she had her baby, hubby came home, his mom, 2 brothers, one wife, 2 kids, came into stay with us... So much for my plan to stay strong!!! Life went nuts for awhile and during all of that with my own 3 kids and me being a full time college student....well..........I just lost it!

    End of story.

I am ready to get back to my real life now and I can't wait to start feeling better, stronger, and more in control. and back to ADBB!!!
Just thought I would stop by, say hi, and let you all know that I am back.

Oh and before my 'flu' I weighed about 282 lbs, now after 24 hours from ****, I weigh 274 lbs....Not sure if it will bounce back up as I rehydrate or not...so will keep it there for now.

welcome back. watch your elctrolytes when you pick your veggies so you can replace that which the flu has caused you to lose with the fluids.

Welcome back, Sonya! Wow, that was quite the houseful you had there. You are a better woman than I! I start getting antsy (ahem...not quite the term I am thinking of. LOL) when Mr. Ski is hanging around the house for several days in a row!!! I can't even imagine all those people. Still, must of been kind of exciting at times and nice to have the family all around. Nice to have your peace back again though.

Hope you can kick that flu to the curb and I hope you are feeling better soon.

How good that your husband's relatives could stay with you guys. Some of the people here who have to come down for childbirth and have no relatives have a very hard time.

              Re: Back... restarting... again....

              Welcome back !!
What I have found helps when life gets really crazy is to cook up a bunch of food for the week. I will cook up whatever I want to eat low carb, steak or chicken or turkey patties or even beef patties or chicken thighs and put it in bags or tupperware in the fridge, this week I cooked up a big salmon steak and it was already preportioned into sections and I take a section for each meal. You can buy the steam fresh veggies or steam up a big bag of your favorate frozen veggies for the week and then measure out what you can have. Same with salad, get a few days at a time prepared and then all you have to do is dish it out and microwave it if it is hot or just eat it cold, like if you have that steak or chicken in the salad. Hard boiled eggs are great and I even cut up a bit of cheddar into one ounce servings with my little kitchen scale so when I want a piece of cheese I only have one to two ounces of it. No more quessing !!
It sounds like you are very busy and that might be of help in keeping you on track, I know with me, not having food in the house is my biggest reason for going off plan in the past, and it was only on weeks I did not prepare !!
I made sure the day before I started I cooked up a bunch of stuff and plan to do more tomorrow. It really makes a differance for me.
I love to heat up the barbeque and make all kinds of stuff on it for the week, that is our favorate low carb way to eat, lol !!
I understand the full house thing, our daughter and her husband and two kids moved to Texas from Calif and are living with us indefinately, it makes things a bit crazy , so I do really truely understand , lol !!
I am glad you are back and hope you are feeling great !!

                Re: Back... restarting... again....

Thanks Stephie!! Those are really great ideas! I did that tonight...I cooked up 3 chicken breasts for the next few days, and made up an extra dose of tuna salad. I also washed up some lettuce for the salads and such.

I also roped my mom into making oopsie rolls for me as a "job" for her. She is a stay-at-home gramma and I buy them at a $1 a roll so that it pays for the ingredients and her effort. Helps me out quite a bit! She makes a bit of money too.

Thanks for the idea about weighing out the cheese ahead of time, I had never thought about that. Great idea, and cheaper than buying those pre-portioned cheeses too!

I am doing well, and thirsty as all get out today! lol I even had a few dizzy spells and some 'almost' mishaps but I made it through without any mistakes. When I am foraging in the kitchen with a small hungry spell, sometimes I forget that I am on my plan...I almost grabbed a banana earlier but remembered just in time! whew!!! lol

I am so glad I could help !! It sounds like you were on the right track already. I swear by the cooking ahead !!!
It does take time to get used to not putting the wrong foods in your mouth that are not on plan, we get so used to just grabbing a snack without thinking !!!
It just takes time and a bit of effort and you can really help guarantee your success !!!
What are oopsie rolls ? I have not heard of those before !! That is nice your mom can help you and it helps her too !!
I look forward to hearing your successes !!

                    Re: Back... restarting... again....

                    Hi Stephie,
I couldn't find the original recipe link for you but I used the search option and found a thread that had the recipe posted in it.

I hope that helps...I use them instead of bread about 3 times a week. Last night, we grilled burgers and I used two of them for the bun. I didn't have any cheese the other meals of the day so I could get away with it, but you do have to watch that they have cheese in them and count it.

There are also the revolution rolls that use less cheese, but I have not had those yet. Also I think someone makes the oopsies in the microwave, one at a time, and they say its more like bread and liked it better. I haven't done that yet either. Either way, those oopsies sure come in handy!

My two other favorites from this forum are the Egg shakes (for quick breakfasts) and the mock danish (which I only have a few times a month). Those are awesome too!

I am sure glad to be back...and your right...I do need to plan my week on the weekend so that I can get through it a lot easier!

Thanks Sonya, I will be sure to check those out and give them a try !! That is something I have not done enough of when on low carb. I tend to be pretty happy on a basic diet but I know I would enjoy some of these wonderful recipes and it is about time I give some a try, this sounds like a fun one to try. Is it allowed on induction or do I have to wait until I am through induction to have it ?? I guess if I go check out the ingrediants I will be able to tell, lol !!
I will let you know once I try them how I like them, I sure hope they are allowed because now I am really intriqued by them !!
                      thanks,
