  • 5 days in - weight loss great... marmite question

5 pounds down!! and just getting on very very well with this diet. I think (I hope) I just get it.

Loving omelettes... and loving the freedom I feel compared to other diets.

Sorry if this has been answered before .. but is Marmite OK ?

If so how do others use it?

    xx

I am of no help....Yank here. I just remember when I was abroad my Aussie friend had a jar of it. I asked her what it was and she said Australian Nutella. Imagine my surprise when i took a big ol' spoonful. Eek!

How much weight have you lost ham? I'd say regarding the Marmite, it's fine to have but make sure that you introduce it slowly to make sure it has no ill effects on your weight loss.

Here's the recipe for LC flax bread that I use. I'm not sure it's legal in Phase 1, as I'm not sure if flax seed meal is ok, but it seems like everything else is.

Flax Bread Recipe - Low-Carb Focaccia-Style Flax Bread

This bread comes out quite, um....moist. It almost seems like it's wet, but not in a gross way. I believe flax holds in ALOT of moisture.

If ou don't want to make a whole bread and want to have something quick to toast up or spread something on this is a nice muffin recipe. Really yummy and satisfies me! I found it on this website:

OH - and they are right when they say...if you have flax...drink MORE water than usual...that way you don't get erm...blocked up.

Muffin in a Minute (suitable for Induction)

              Serving Size: 1

              1/4 cup flax meal
              1/2 teaspoon baking powder
              1 packet splenda
              1 teaspoon cinnamon
              1 large egg
              1 teaspoon butter

Put the dry ingredients in a coffee mug. Or a bowl for a different shape.

              Stir.

Then add the egg and the butter. Mix.

Microwave 1 minute (or more). Take out. slice, butter, eat. Set mug to soak immediately.

Cream cheese would go nicely, too.

ooh sounds lovely. do you know how much in weight the splenda is.. I dont think we have Splenda packets in the UK and wonder what the alternative would be and how much to add to the recipe. x

I think one splenda packet = 2 teaspoons of the loose stuff.

However I never add any sweetener to my flax muffin recipe as I use it instead of bread so don't want it sweet. I imagine putting marmite on a sweet 'bread' might taste a bit weird.

That was a mean trick to play on someone Here the adverts for Marmite always play on the 'either you love it or you hate it' theme as it is definitely an acquired taste

I want to try Marmite. Guess I have to go and look in the excited food isles to see if I can find it. Looks like an acquired taste

Hambub - some of us find Atkins shakes are not helpful in losing so keep an eye out for that and count it towards your sugar consumption.

I would try 1/2 tsp. of the granular Splenda.

Or you could just do without any Splenda ... see if you like it.
