  • Atkins shakes on induction

Thanks so far for all your helpful posts to my queries.. I sometimes feel a bit silly asking questions on here but I know you've all been through it so hopefully I can benefit from your experience.

With the Atkins shakes... Has anyone had these and been knocked out of Ketosis?

I ask this because I mentioned them in a previous post and was advised that some peoples weight loss has slowed down - yet it says on the shake that it is ok for Induction?

    xx

My best advice... Don't do it. None of this processed jumk existed when the book was written, most of it was created later (much of it after Dr.A passed away). Sooooo I'd tell you to skip it regardless what it says. And yes, given the sugar alchohols in a lot of these products, try can certainly knock you out of ketosis. Some people just can't have them.

A food can stall you without knocking you out of ketosis. Ketosis is not a guarantee for weight loss.

Just because a food is acceptable on Induction, it doesn't mean it can't stall you.

Shakes and bars were suppose to be used as an emergency backup. If you absolutely could not get to an approved food it was better than eating off plan. Can you have them without stalling? Only your body knows that. From what I've seen 9 out of 10 or more posters can not.

You can make your own much healthier and better tasting eggnog shake and it only takes minutes. There's a whole thread devoted to it.

Read the list of ingredients on the shake cans and decide if it sounds like something you want to put in your body after all the cleaning out of junk you've worked so hard to do.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Not sure what the link for the thread is, but it's basically:
              Eggs, heavy cream, vanilla, sweetner...

I make mine with 3 eggs, 1 oz of heavy cream, a tsp of Splenda, and 1/2 tsp of vanilla. Or there abouts. I don't actually measure. I put the eggs, splenda, and vanilla in the "magic bullet" and mix for a minute. Sometimes I add some ice to get a slushy shake mixture. Then I add the cream and stir it in (mixing it in sometimes makes a weird product).

              YUM.
