  • Terrible cravings today

    Hi all - I am back again. I'm really trying very hard this time to get it right! Today is day four and the cravings are terrible. The past three days have been fine, but today is insane. I am about three days from TOM (sorry, if TMI) and I know that's the trigger.

    I was very carb heavy for the past few months...I really thought that mac 'n cheese was going to solve my world woes...the only thing it did was make my waistband feel even worse

    Okay, I'm going to go for a walk. Get out of the house and away from the Easter candy my kids have...aaaahhhh...

    Thanks for letting me vent ;-) I have to stick with this, I can stick with this...

    Good for you for deciding to go for a walk instead of staying within sight of the children's Easter sweets!
    Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      I have to avoid caffeine before TOM, or I feel terrible (This is pre-Atkins - I generally avoid caffeine now). We know that the taste of something sweet makes us crave sweets, so maybe avoiding sweeteners for a day or two before you expect this (so 4-5 days before TOM) would help? It might be worth trying
      Also, it takes a few days/weeks after starting Atkins for the cravings to lessen, it depends on the person. It took several weeks for me, then it got much easier Try to tough it out...it is SO worth it in the long run!!!

        Thanks for your support. As an update, I have been able to stay away from the 'cheats', but I am also finding myself completely ravenous today. UGH ...I will get through it. Just spent hours outside to avoid the indoor chocolates And, now off to have a glorious dinner of a Porterhouse Steak, salad and stir fried veggies.

        Oh, I do not drink any sweeteners...I am lucky that I hate soda of any kind other than club soda ...and, like my coffee w/out any type of sweetener or cream.

        I just need to get there...I've done it before...I can do it again.

        Also, I've hung the skirt that I want to wear to a shower in May on my closet door...keep the eye on the prize ;-)

            Well, today is a new day! I thought maybe the feelings yesterday were b/c I was going to find myself in ketosis this morning, but the test strips didn't change color. Course, they have been open for many, many months...I wonder if they are bad?

            Anyway, I am feeling better today. I did not cave yesterday (oh, but i really, really wanted too! ;-)) And, just had a nice dinner ...no evening snack...I read my book instead.

            I woke up this morning feeling better. Had a delicious chix burger and mixed veggies for breakfast and went on w/my morning of meetings. I just did 15 minutes of Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown...holy cow! Am I that out of shape? UGH!! But, what an awesome stretch for lunch....now, off to make a legal lunch and hopefully, keep the cravings at bay...

            Thanks for your support yesterday...and, here's hoping that the little beast of cravings stays away!!

              Well done for staying on-plan (and adding some exercise too) today!

              Don't worry too much about those pesky sticks - they do go 'off' after a few weeks of being opened I think.

              Anyway I never managed to make them change colour even when I was losing several pounds a week
