  • Day 3

Woke up two pounds heavier and a bit light headed but my sugars after eating are okay and I am feeling much better as the day goes on !! I think it is normal day three !! Induction flu strikes !!
I feel pretty good now and expect to see that two pounds back off in a day or two. I tend to go up a coulpe of pounds, before I go down again. That is why I weigh every day because I go up and down so much as I lose that if I weighed once a week it could show a high day on the day I would chose to weigh for the week and I can follow the pattern and it makes sense and I do not get upset by the up days.
Anyway, having a great day three, one liter of water down and on the second liter.
All in all a good day and nice progress on my low carb woe !!

    Re: Day 3

Doing great, Stephie! It's good you are not worrying about your extra 2lbs, and you are staying upbeat too! I'm on day 5 and feeling somewhat tired still, and it's probably a touch of adjusting to atkins, but it's also because I've been in pain all day long. For some reason that really tires me out! Anyway--glad you are feeling good, and take it easy!

Great job keeping up with the positive attitude. I try to stay off the scale but I can totally see your reasoning for weighing everyday. I do get upset by the UP days though lol. I guess we're all different - it's all about getting to know yourself and what might derail you and what won't! Keep it up! I am on day 9, last I checked I have lost 5lbs! Wahoo!

        Re: Day 3

Five pounds, awesome, that is exciting, I hope to see something like that at nine days too !!
No, the scale does not bother me because I have seen the patterns. If it ever does, I will just stop weighing every day. Nothing is going to detour me this time. I have too much at stake !!
I am right behind you and very excited to be on the journey I never should have left in the first place !!

            Re: Day 3

Sounds like you are doing well. My weight is also all over the place. I stalled for 3 weeks, then had an almost 4lb drop, then was up almost 2lbs this week. It's crazy but as you said when you weigh daily you see patterns of ups and downs. I've finally come to the point I've resigned myself. I can't control my weightloss. All I can do is eat on plan and it will come off as slowly or quickly as it wants. Me stressing over it won't change a thing.

              Re: Day 3

Thanks so much for the kind words, day one is very exciting and before you know it you will be through induction !!

That is rough when the weight just does not want to come off like you want it too, but it sounds like you have a good attitude. You are right, we have to let go and let our bodies do thier thing. The weight came on slowly and we have to let our bodies have the time they need to get it off.
I think stressing over it can actually make it worse, so that is good you have realized that and are just going to be patient !!
Just check over the diet you have been eating and make sure there is nothing that could be an issue, if not, and you are doing everything right, just keep being patient like you are doing.
I am back down the pound I gained yesterday , it was one, not two , why I thought two I am not sure, lol, and now tomorrow or the next day it should move again.I have not gotten my gallon of water in and for my body that is important for me to lose. I am not sure why, but four liters or around a gallon seems to be what works and I have been at three liters the last two days. I will make sure to get that other liter today and see what happens, but like you, I do not plan to stress over it, it will not help and maybe hurt !!
I hope you both have a great day today !!

                Re: Day 3

Great attitude! I have the worst time being patient when my weight loss slows or stalls or goes UP (gasp!). I am so wishy washy that my committment will actually wane if I don't see constant change on the scale if I step on too often. It's terrible. However I need to get over that because even though I KNOW I am doing things right, I still need to keep an eye on things as I start to progress through the OWL rungs and can figure out how my body responds to different foods. Plus I have to have a better idea how it all corresponds to my monthly cycle, etc. It's tough too because I am very sensitive to salt and so if I eat too many high sodium foods, then blam, 2lbs shows up and I am upset. Why is my relationship with the scale so dog-goned emotional???? Lol. It's ridiculous really.

                  Good question!

My advice would be to get rid of the scale ... at least for a while.

                    Re: Day 3

Why is your relationship with the scale so emotional ?
I think because we look to the scale for our atta boys, our pat on the back that we are doing great and when we think it is telling us we are not doing great, we imediately go to the failure thoughts, those negitive thoughts that keep us frozen in our bad behavior. It is silly when you think about it.
Our rationale can be, oh, I did not lose weight so I just give up, I can't lose weight on this plan !! but what is really going on is, pms, sodium bloat, too little water, the moon is in the second house, lol !! We just need ANY excuse to prove that it is not working and we might as well go back to our old way.
Have you heard the definition of insanity ??
Doing the same things over and over and expecting a differant outcome !!
I love that and wrote it on an index card and put it next to the computer !!
We have to do something differant tfrom we have always done if we want to change the outcome. It could be a change in our thinking, our behaviour , our habits, or hopefully all of the above.
We really do have the power to change and we are stronger than any food .
If the scale is a problem, give it to a friend to hold for a month, that way for an entire month you can't sweat over it. I will do that in a heart beat if it ever puts me in danger of losing having that thing in our house.
Just one foot in front of the other and if the scale is a problem, stop weighing yourself or if you just have to, then look at it as a number, nothing else. Try to distance it from the way of eating so you can get to your goals.
You can do it, we all can do it, we just have to stronger than the food, or that darn scale !!
