      Re: raw milk

How about taking out cream from it? How much cream we can eat?

I put milk in bottle and after 2-3 days all cream firms up and stay up....so tht is pure milk.
I just don't want to buy it from outside.
My son drinks raw milk from farm..ofcourse .. i miss it too on induction..

but saving on grocery bills... using that cream will be cheaper..
our farm only sales us in 15 or 25 liters..so there is whole lot at home..and expensive..

anyone knows..how to take cream from real milk.

Hmmm, that I don't know. But I do know that we are allowed heavy whipping cream on induction, lovely stuff.

On another note, have you read the Atkins book, or at least read the list of acceptable foods? Go here for all the info you need to know to get started. Don't let that replace the book though. They one we follow here is this one. It's the 2002 version, so I'll bet you can at least check it out at your local library to read until you can get a copy of your own. I have the paperback version that cost me about $5.

            Re: raw milk

It's not really the whipping cream only, it's that heavy whipping cream is low in carbs, so I'm really not sure how you would count it being made from raw milk and all. I'm just not sure and I don't want to tell you the wrong thing.

We can have 2-3 tbsp of whipping cream per day.

whipping cream is 35% MF? We can have 3 tbsp as an "additional food" during induction.

I thought we could have 3T a day as a regular food, and 3oz a day as an "additional" food. Hmmmm, I'm pretty sure I remember reading that....I'll have to pull out the book tonight

You just scoop it off the top of the milk after it rises to the top.

Dodo the 3oz was a misprint as confirmed by his nurse who collaborated on some of the literature. It should have been 3Tbsp

Raw milk has different amounts of lactose and carbs than grocery store milk depending on how the farm processes/bottles it. The carbs in raw milk should be lower than grocery store milk.

I would ask the farm for the nutritional stats. While they are not standardized like grocery milk they should have some info for you. Raw milk may be acceptable ... probably not the big glass you are used to though. They can also suggest how to separate the cream.

However Dr Atkins did not correct the info about 3 ounces of cream being allowed as one of the occasional 'special foods' we could add if it did not upset our progress, so many of us stick to the words as printed in DANDR which was published in the year before Dr Atkins died, leaving him plenty of opportunities to correct it if it was a misprint
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Umm... Farley did you mean DiDi, or was my post really that bad?

"Dodo the 3oz was a misprint"

I had never heard the misprint thing before. If it was a misprint I am glad it is in there. I am sure thankful for those extra 3oz now and then.
