  • What desserts can I eat on induction!!!

    Hi everyone,

So I've been on Induction for 6 days now with NO cheating!! So far I've lost 5 pounds and counting!

I am struggling with desserts though..I crave something sweet after dinner particularly, and was wondering if sugar-free jelly (jello) was OK to have? It says no carbs on the packet. It would be great to have with some cream. But I can't bring myself to eat cream on a diet, it just doesn't seem right!

Is it REALLY OK to eat cream???

    Thanks everyone!

Part of being limited ot 3 servings of sweetener a day s that Dr Atkins hoped we would lose our sweet tooth on induction.

But it is better to have cream than the jelly, as all the jelly packs I have seen in the UK are made with aspartame which is a sweetener Dr Atkins wanted us to avoid.

Dr Atkins did suggest we could make our own jelly using unsweetened gelatine with a 'legal' sweetener and maybe some of your allowed couple of tablespoons of lemon or lime juice for an occasional dessert, but he did not recommend a daily 'sweet treat'.

Otherwise you could stew up some rhubarb (which is on the one-cup list) with one of the allowed sweeteners and eat that with a dollop of double cream whipped up or just poured on, as we are allowed 2-3 tablespoons of cream.

Or get a tin of pure pumpkin (make sure it is not the pumpkin pie filling which has other added stuff - the tins look very similar) and try one of the pumpkin recipes that are posted about fairly frequently. On ADBB there is one called 'MUP' - Mitzi's ultimate pumpkin.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

A good "treat" for me is the One Minute Muffin. You can even put cream cheese icing on it! (Cream cheese, heavy cream, splenda). NOTE: The muffin with the icing would be your entire sweetner alotment for the day AT ONCE.

      OMM:
      3 TBSP GOLDEN flax meal
      1/2 tsp baking powder
      1 tsp cinnamon
      1 tsp Splenda
      1 Egg
      1-2 tsp butter.

Mix dry, add wet, microwave (in a mug) for one minute.

try the mock danish as your sweet treat
        1-2 ounces of cream cheese
        1-2 eggs
        1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
        1 sweetner of choice.

put the cream cheese the cinnamon and the sweetner in a bowl and nuke till the cream cheese is soft about 20 seconds. mix well and remove 1 part for icing if you want icing

add the amount of egg you are using and stir well but don't worry if there are still cream cheese lumps cause it will just taste like a cheese danish.

nuke till egg mixture is set and them ice if you are using icing.

eat with a spoon and enjoy.

if you are using flax seed meal per rule 12 then you can add some to this to get a more bread like texture.

it is great for breakfast too

          Yes.

          You're reading the book, right?

Here's the deal with your cravings ... one of the purposes of Induction is to get rid of those cravings. Honestly, having legal sweet treats isn't going to help.

          >>I crave something sweet after dinner particularly,>>

Yep ... I remember that habit.

Don't give in to your "craving" ... or it will win.

Relearn your "habit" ... do something else. Go for a walk. Drink some tea. Drink some ice water.

          You'll be better for it.
