Yes it is better to get them from the butcher. Also checks out boars head I hear they have good meats.

If you have to have them, then they won't kill you - just make sure to look at the carb count. I often buy pepperoni from the deli - zero carbs.

Also, why not cook up a bunch of hambrugers and freeze most, keep some in the fridge and nuke them with a few slices of cheese for tasty, low carb meal?

During induction I was eating 2-3 patty's each day with one to 3 slices of cheese on them.

I even bought double cheeseburgers at a fast food joint (Checkers) with just the meat and cheese. i knew that they had zero carbs (although they did taste salty). Just be careful when eating out because many places add fillers to their meat (I think McDonalds does).

I like lunch meat too, especially with the summer on the way, I hate eating heavy hot food in the summer. And a little roll up with sliced deli meat and cheese and a pickle or lettuce can hit the spot!

I would suggest just getting it from the butcher too instead of the prepackaged stuff. And the quality is just sooo much better too. Good luck in the hunt.

Boars Head makes sensational zero carb, zero sugar, filler and nitrate free deli meats, they also have an excellent selection of cheeses and some sauces as well.

A month or so I listed a post of all their Atkins Friendly foods that were zero carbs and sugar, but I'm certain you can find the same information at their website

Boar's Head Provisions Co, Inc. Premium Deli Meats & Cheeses since 1905.

They also provide a nice nutritional guide for all their products and an excellent cookbook - both of which are free.
