  • Not eating enough?

    Hey ladies & gents,

I have just finished the 1st week of my induction, and successfully lost 3lb in weight. I am chuffed to bits, but wondering if I'm eating enough?

Since starting the Atkins Diet, I find I'm not as hungry as I normally would be at meal times. Please have a gander at my menu today, all advice welcome as I have seen a lot of posts advising people to " eat more fat and vegetables as this will help weight loss". I don't think I am doing this:

    Breakfast
    2 egg omlette with cream
    2 rasher of bacon

    Lunch
    1/2 Smoked Sausage
    Cup of Spice/Herb tea

    Dinner

    2 x pork chops
    cup of brocolli

I am also drinking lots of water. If I am indeed, needing to eat more, please advise me of any good additional things to add to my daily meals.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

    xx

P.S I really need to buy a book on Atkins, as googling everything is driving me nuts!

    Re: Not eating enough?

I don't know if you have any charity shops around your area, but down here in Dorset most have a copy of the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 (2003 in UK) version we follow here.

I have never paid more than 50p for my copies, which I buy to have spares to hand out.

Sometimes charity shops don't even put 'outdated' diet books out on the shelves but dump them for recycling, assuming no-one will want them, so it would be worth asking the staff to check out the back or keep an eye out for one for you.

If you can't get hold of a copy send me a pm and I can let you have my snail mail address so you can send me a large SAE with enough stamps on it for postage (I'll look up the current rate) and I will let you have one of my 'spares'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Book will help you as you are not really following the rules. So we use the 2002 book and eat veggies.
So add veggies to your lunch - you need 3 cups of them.

I think your lunch is very meagre - sounds like my in between meal snack.
Also sausages are not great to eat - they contain too many fillers and stuff

      Hope that helps

Great, I will keep my eye out for an Atkins book Ellizellen. I'm skint till Payday (next Thursday), so the Charity shop idea is perfect!

Thanks for the advice Liv, I will try to change from eating sausages to something more "reliable", and as of today, have started eating more veggies.

I think I just need to break the mind-habit of thinking: a diet must mean I eat very little.

          So today, breakfast was:
2 x egg omlette parcel, with a cheddar cheese & brocolli centre

A little more fat from the butter, and cheese and a little bit of veg, which I will eat more off at lunch around 1pm.

Remember Atkins (though called a 'diet') is not just a weightloss regime but a 'diet' in the oldfashioned way of meaning it is a way of eating (WOE)
The Atkins WOE is not something you suffer for long enough to starve yourself to lose weight then return to your original WOE
And when hungry we do not tighten our belt and suffer - we eat, but we eat some on-plan low carb high fat food

A little more fat from the butter, and cheese and a little bit of veg, which I will eat more off at lunch around 1pm.
Sounds a good start to the day
