• edgefan's journey

Started April 12 2010- weighed 368.2 WOW

Day 3 felt my appetite go down drastically, started walking on this day. Only walked 2/3 mile , my back was hurting, had to stop. Trying to get my 64 oz of water, water to me makes me feel hungry, I know that sounds weird but that's what it does to me. Might be that my stomach is so used to the bloating of the carbonation of diet pop that it feels empty.

Day 4- Woke up and felt pretty good, cleaned kitchen, boiled some eggs, ate a slice of American cheese and went for a walk, got in 1 1/3 mile today so that made 2 miles in 2 days. Going to try to stay around 1 mile a day for few days then try to bump it up. Energy is feeling pretty good right now. Have to eat more meals though, its 6:51 pm right mow and I've had 1 pc of cheese, 2 burgers with half of a pc of cheese on each a little ketchup (low sugar Heinz) a little mustard. Half of a leftover steak from yesterday and a salad. I've had about 32 oz of water so far.

Well done for including exercise already

I see you are already experiencing the appetite suppression effect of induction eating, but do watch that you eat enough to keep your engine burning throughout the day

Make sure you are getting as many vegetable carbs from your up to 3 cups as you can by choosing some of the higher carb ones, as we are supposed to get most of our net carbs on induction from our veggies rather than cheese, eggs, cream, sweeteners etc.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Starting to struggle to eat. No appetite = no veggies. (having a hard time just eating anything)
HELP...

Its like water, the only way I can drink water or crave water is if im hot after doing some exercise. When I get back from my mile walk (which I've done today ) I drink about 16 oz water. After that its hard for me to drink water. Almost same with veggies, I'm not hungry most of the time but when I do get a little hungry veggies just don't appeal to me so I grab a left over burger or something.

So I guess its going to be just a chicken salad for lunch today.

2 goals today- eat more veggies and drink more water.

AND...go to the store to get some ingredients for some muffins for breakfast and more veggies.

I buy radishes, celery, peppers, snap peas [and cherry tomatoes when in season], cut them up and keep them in tupperware. I bring about 3 of each to work with me and munch on them thru-out the day - even when I'm not hungry, they seem to dissappear - good luck!

Hey man, I feel you on a lot of what you're talking about. The water thing is just something you're gonna have to train yourself to do. It's hard for the first few days but once you get into the habit of drinking it, it gets easier. Also, it cleans your system and makes you feel better in general. Try drinking 16oz of water BEFORE you go take your walks too. Doing that helps hydrate your muscles. 64oz minimum a day, but more is definitely beneficial.

As far as the vegetables go, I don't have the taste buds for most of them either. There are ways around it though. Work them into other stuff you already like. Make casseroles with meats and some cheese in them and add vegetables. I make a mean spinach and chicken casserole. Use lettuce leaves as buns for your burgers. Check out this site for recipes Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home. The ones with a (*) are induction friendly and there are tons of them.

Ive seen many recipe's for different things but was wondering if they were allowed on induction.
I have a smartphone (that im to DUMB for) and I bookmarked that page, so when I go to the grocery its right there.

Yeah that's crazy lol - I live in Cincy but I work in Monroe.

And for your images you have a "/" in the front tag. The front one should be

It is good you have some for comparison later once you get further along your Atkins journey
Like many others I hated having my photo taken (and was usually the one taking the photos) so I have only really ever found one 'before' one that I can compare with, taken at a funeral the day after I started doing Atkins.

Wow, I am also in OH but about 30 miles north of Columbus..
I do what Areyougonnaeatthat does.. when it comes to hiding the veggies.. I started putting cauliflower and celery in almost everything..
tuna salad, chicken salad, salads. I like celery (sometimes) but cauliflower is hard to take... I only try to eat extra if my carb count is to low that day. it has extra in it.
last night a sauted in in butter, added peper and oz of mozerella cheese..
I gotta say I was delicious...
