  • Vegetable choice help...

    Hi Everyone,

    I am doing atkins induction phase nearly 2 weeks. I started too fast..without getting much information. and after 5 days.. I feel so much good that i am still collecting information and doing it.

    Here is where I stuck.

    I am from india. and I like soups and spices....and curry stuff.. I makes everything at home, so I calculate carb from spices..and use very less. but here...is the problem..

    with fish curry.. when i make it.. I use 1 cup onion and 1 cup tamotato..makes it almost 12 net carb..
    can I select after that brocoli as side vegetable... i eat very less..and measure cups..

    Also, I dont like salads.. again problem of habit of spice food and cooked vegetables from childhood.

    so I make bok choy..but othe than that.. from 2 cup of day salad.. not eating..but i can eat lots of brocollie...and califlur.. i can select from 2nd list 3 vegetable...up to 15 net carb...

    is it okay? or i shd eat greens raw. I get little bit digesting problem eating raw.. but did not try it well. i hve to learn also how to make salad..
    can you pls pls help me. i m stuck..not lossing much weight.

    pepers are on the salad greens list.
    bok choy is on the salad vegies list too. how about cucumbers?

    we can cook any and all our veggies we just have to measure them raw.

    when you make fish curry with all that tomato and onion is that one serving or does it make more then one?

      so do we need to eat the one listed green vegetables 2 serving..
      and we have to eat 1 vegetable from others... is that rule?

      or I can choose.. 1 brockollie... 1 califlour..and 1 asprugaus in same day... just measure carb stays in 15...total?

      I make fish curry with 1/2 cup onion and 1/2 cup tomatooo...with 1 serving..and i eat brockoli on side..?

      is it okay?

          tht is cool..means no salad
          and i can have... 3 serving of ... cooked.. vegetables.

          also i digest well that one..

          anyone else on board?

            There's no requirement that you have to have "salad" on Atkins.

              But according to DANDR which is the version of DR Atkins book we are following here you should be having 2 cups from the list of 'salad vegetables' and one from the 'other vegetables' list.

              As 2big said, these 2 cups from the salad vegetable list can be your bok choy or peppers or mushrooms or daikon etc and it can be cooked rather than raw, and your one cup from the other list can be your 1/2 cup of onions and 1/2 cup of tomatoes.

              When you move to the next phase of Atkins you can add your brocolli as your new 5 net carbs of vegetables.

                But not as far as Dr Atkins is concerned. for the first 14 days their is a limit of at least 2 cups of the veggies off the salad list and then you can either have the 3rd cup of them or you can have one cup off the other veggie list.

                as Elizellen said when you move to OWL rung one on day 15 you can add 5 more net grams of carbs of veggies from the other list along with your 1 cup from induction plus you 2 cups from the salad list.

                  Thanks everybody. I lost 5 pound in 2 week... I am still doing lots of wrongs.. have to organized myself.
