  • Now I am really confused......

I have been reading the book ( I am not completly thru it and have read a few things more than once),, posting questions,, and reading other threads...
I log everything I eat into fitday and so far I really thought I was doing good logging all my food and staying in the % ratios..

After all that now I think maybe I am wrong about the vegtables
the book says.. 2-3 cups of salad veggies.. or 2 cups of salad and 1 cup of the others.. So I am mixing it up and eating usually pepper/onions with eggs in the morning. Then a bed of lettuce.. (roughly a cup with my tuna or chicken salad that I add celery, mayo, and a pickle to)
in the evening I try to have a salad with tomato and some kind of meat..
I think I have been doing this correctly and I have been losing weight.
But is there anyone out there that can look at my fitday and tell me if I am right or wrong ?? now I really dont think 12-15 % of net carbs are coming from veggies...
Oh and I will need to know how to make it public.
    thanks for your help

    It's not 12-15 % ... it would be 12-15 net carbs.

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution or A New Atkins for a New You?

That 12-15 net carbs is not written in the book - it says we should have 'most' of our 'up to 20 net carbs' from our vegetables.

So if you were one of those people who only chose lettuce as your salad vegetable your carb count would be very low, with maybe only 2 or 3 from veg, allowing you to have maybe only a couple of net carbs from non-veg foods like eggs, cheese etc.

By choosing higher-carb vegetables from the list you will be getting more nutrition too.

Each half year we have a challenge here on ADBB where people try to get something like 12-15 net carbs from their 3 cups of veg, there is a link to the latest one in my signature so you can see how they do it.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

You can get a link to show others your fitday information by going to the 'profile' tab and scrolling down to the button called something like 'make my journal public' and selecting it to be given a link ending 'owner=yourname' which you can paste here.

Great information on the Veggie Challenge. I will check it out.

Here is the link to make public. What I have entered for 4-20 is what I have made for my breakfast/snack/lunch/snack while at work.... dinner is still up in the air...

Re: Now I am really confused......

I found something called MUP (mitzi's ultimate pumpkin) while doing a veggie challenge awhile back and that helped me to up my veggies. You can research the recipe on this board to find the exact amounts but its basically cream cheese, pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice (or similar), and sweetener microwaved together....it kinda tastes like pumpkin pie and it helps to get those veggie carbs in.

There are other veggies that you can buy frozen and cook up pretty easy to get the veggies in..My faves are brussel sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower.

There is also Jicama, which is like a crunchy root that is between a potato and an apple in flavor and consistency. You can eat it raw (peeled) or cut up and fried or cooked like apples with cinnamon. It stays a bit crunchy so be prepared for that. Its very high fiber and quite refreshing.

Just look around in the recipe sections and you might find a few more different ways to sneak those veggies in.

When you add your veggies into fitday, be sure to add them as RAW, regardless if you cook them or not. For example, you added green pepper and onions, 0.5 cups cooked. Try adding them in individually.

You're like me, you like to mix it up. I can't just eat a cup of broccoli. I should try doing so though.
                  Mini goals:
                  1: out of 190's 4/5/10
2: 179 pounds (no longer obese)
3: Run one mile without stopping
                  4: 165 pounds (driver's license weight)
                  5: size 14 jeans
6: 149 pounds (no longer over weight)
                  7: 140 pounds (prepregnancy weight)
                  135= weight on wedding day
123= weight on high school graduation

And the OWL chapter assumes we are eating 20 [net] carbs.

                    Go figure!

It looks a bit light on fat and therefore heavy on protein to me so far.
