  • when is it proper to restart induction?

I know it's not right to abuse induction, but I made a huge accidental mistake today (day #13 on induction). I was eating out and ordered a steak. I didn't notice any sweetness but it turns out it was marinated in sweet sauce and that the vegetables it came with were cooked in starch water. I had a lot. This was a couple hours ago, and I'm still in ketosis (tomorrow morning may be another story). So I'm wondering if this means I should start induction over. I definitely have cravings and a headache. When is the damage irreparable, i.e. needing to restart?

You do not need to restart Induction. You should just continue on.

What restaurant was this? Did the menu give any indication that the steak was marinated in a sweet sauce?

How did you find out the vegetables were cooked in starch water?

This is not one of those times. If we all started over everytime we did an ooopps every one of us would be in induction perpetually. So tomorrow is day 14.

Induction is also about learning stuff and that was a very valuable lesson.

it was an asian fusion restaurant and i ordered an asian seasoned beef steak with vegetables. i just found out from a friend of mine that all asian style meat and veggies are prepared this way

you both are saying to continue on, but what about the consequences of an impure induction? that was stressed a lot in the book so i hate moving on without having that as a foundation

If you can find someone who did a "pure" Induction, I would love to meet them!

Bottom line ... a bad thing happened. Don't let this derail you. As Liv wrote, Induction is also about learning stuff ... and now you know that this restaurant has poor choices.

We have all eaten things we didn't intend to eat.

One meal isn't going to undo Induction ... unless you let it.

we can't go back and redo it cause we would not be a virgin low carber if we restarted tomorrow.

the reason Dr Atkins stresses doing it clean is because of the weight lost numbers being able to determine what kind of metabolic resistance4 we have and estimate our CCLL. you will just know that your weight loss isn't going to be on day 15 as much as it could have been.
