  • Feeling a little down...

Today is Day 8 and I was thrilled to see that by Induction Day 5 I'd lost 4.4lb... however, today i got on the scale and I appear to be back up again to my original weight!!

I feel slimmer and will try and measure when I get home from work but I'm almost scared to, in case that's the same too.

I have followed the plan exactly, except for the first day when I had a diet coke at lunch (just to taste something sweet).

I did play tennis for an hour and twenty mins on Saturday AND again on Sunday, so I'm hoping the static weight is because I was burning fat but building muscle but can that happen so quick?

Perhaps I'm just tired from being kept up with a sick little boy last night.

Thanks for listening to my moan.

It's normal to fluctuate. Are you weighing yourself at the same time of day? Everyone loses at their own pace. Maybe give yourself a larger lapse of time before you weigh again?

If you feel slimmer, that's a good sign!

Hi Anita -- are you close to your monthly visitor? many times that can cause a weight gain. Many people's weight varies from day to day which is why Dr Atkins suggested you don't weigh yourself daily.

Have you eaten anything salty lately or with hidden sugars? That could be another reason. Stick with the plan - you'll get back on track.

Right---if you choose to weigh daily, you may want to make sure you are weighing naked at 7am each day, and preferably before you eat or drink anything, and after you go to the restroom. This way you are giving yourself the same "playing ground" each time if that makes sense.

If you are around TOM, like Imagood1 said, you could definitely gain a few from that, but they will leave your body soon after that.

Don't be discouraged---Atkins isn't all about losing weight, though that is a wonderful thing, it is about learning to eat healthier so that you can keep it off.

          Re: Feeling a little down...

I'm mid-cycle at the moment so can't be from expected TOM.
Did have pork rinds for a snack last 2 days so wonder if it might in fact be water retention fm too much salt!

Didn't occur to me till you mentioned it!
I definitely do feel slimmer though so not an outright panic yet ;-)
Just really want the scale to move... I know I can't rush things though.
I'll cut out the pork rinds and cut out all excess salt and see if that makes a difference.

          Thanx

Did you take your measurements before you started Atkins, Anita? Sometimes we lose inches (=fat) while staying the same weight or even gaining according to the scales
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
